Hip-hop has been going strong for more than two decades now. Many say that it wasn't possible but cause it is just another phase of disco or just a trend. Well through the adversity and discrepancies come a true from of artwork. Of course Hip-hop isn't what it use to be. From 90's lyrical topics such as political reformation, to today's topics of cars and poring Champaign on scantily clad women we have truly seen great artist. Here is a list of the greatest rappers form the 1990 to present time.

1. Tupac Shakur
Widely agreed on as the greatest rapper of all time. He also holds the most sales o any other rapper in history. Born in East Harlem in 1971 Tupac was born in "true" poverty. Named after the Incan revolutionist who led forces against Spain he was promised to be a gift to the world. After moving form city to city due to low income he found his calling in San Francisco. There he met Shock-G from the already established Digital Underground rap group. "Once I met Shock-G and did Same-Song its been on." Tupac says in an Interview with MTV. "Same-Song" being his first major release. After a few solo moderate-selling albums he made what he considers his masterpiece as "Me Against the World," witch was released in 1995 and debuted at number one on Billboard charts while he was in prison for allocations of sexual assault. That's when Death Row records CEO Suge Knight offered to bail him out if he signed with the upcoming record company. Tupac went on to release 3 albums with Death Row until he was gunned down for the second time after a Mike Tyson fight in Los Vegas in 1996. He died 9 days later. The case has yet to be solved. Since his death there has been 6 albums released of his previous recoded work. He has 20 songs all-time that has appeared in Billboard's top ten list.

2. The Notorious B.I.G.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York Biggie was a jewel before his time. Growing up as an only child B.I.G. was a good child and smart student, his mother quotes "He just had a smart-ass attitude." He attended George Westinghouse Technology High School where fellow future rappers Jay-Z, and Busta Rhymes. After being frustrated with school he dropped out to get "easy money." That is when he made spiral of bad choices involving crime, including weapons charges and selling cocaine. He spent 9 months in federal prison for attempting to sell illegal substance. After making a demo that was heard by then Uptown Records A&R Sean "Puffy" Combs, B.I.G. met an interested Uptown staff who immediately signed him. After making appearances on the popular Mary J Blige's single "Real Love remix," B.I.G. gained huge exposure. 1994 was a pivotal year for the new rapper. He married singer Faith Evans, released his now 4 times platinum debut album "Ready to Die" witch had three major hit on it. "Juicy," "Big Poppa," "One more chance." His friend Tupac Shakur was shot at a Manhattan recording studio that Biggie was in at the time. Tupac blamed the shooting on B.I.G.'s people, and from there spiraled an East coast, West coast rivalry that was fueled by the Media's breathless interest. Tupac was killed after a Mike Tyson fight in Los Vegas. Many people blamed B.I.G. for his role in the rivalry. Biggie made attempts to keep peace, but after a release party in California he was shot down in the passenger seat of his SUV. After being rushed to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead 45 minutes later. This case has also yet to be solved.
