Greatest Sports Bars in New York City to Watch Opening Day Baseball

Lynda Braun
As a young girl, I truly thought I was meant to marry Mickey Mantle, the famous Yankee Hall of Famer.
I even wrote him letters, and believe it or not, he always wrote back. So, in 1988, when Mickey Mantle's
Restaurant and Sport's Bar opened, in New York City, I was first in line. Since that day, in 1988, I have been to Mick's place so many times, that I have truly lost count. The food, the drinks, the sports memorabilia, the photos and art work adorning the walls, the number "7" Yankee shirts worn by the waitstaff, and especially the 32 high definition T.V's where you watch the game, make this a must visit place to enjoy watching MLB games. There are frequently live sports radio programs conducted right inside the restaurant. Top celebrities are frequently seen at Mick's. Not surprisingly, Mickey Mantle's is rated the #1 sports bar in the U.S.A. Mick's has become a family tradition, for my Mom and Dad took me there, and today I take my two boys, 18 and 11, to Mickey's. It is a wonderful experience for anyone, at any time, for any occasion. If you are in New York , New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania, Mickey Mantle's Restaurant and Sports Bar is more than worth the trip. It's a home run!

Now onto Buster and Dave's interactive two bar restaurant in New York City. This spot runs on energy and has over 200 video games. For $15.99 you can purchase an eat and play combo which entitles you to an
entree and a $10 game card. This area is called the Midway Bar and you can even play billiards or shuffleboard. If you win the games, you can purchase cool toys and high tech gadgets as prizes. But, if you are like me, then you want to visit the Viewpoint Bar where you can watch the MLB games. The great thing about this, is that you can watch the game and your family can play video games at the same time. So, Buster and Dave's is perfect for all, because everything you want is there. We have had alot of fun times here. If you have young children or are a child at heart, then this place is for you. Let's take a final stop at Foley's Pub and Restaurant, or better known as The Irish Bar with a Baseball Attitude also located in New York City. The ceiling is very unique, since over 130 sports jerseys hang from the roof.
There are more than 2000 autographed baseballs and countless other memoribilia. Located just across the
street from the Empire State Building, many major league players, umpires, and sports writers, frequent
Foley's. The crowd here seems to be split between Yankee and Met fans. Obviously, this is one fun place
to visit during the baseball season and is always a great spot for my family and me. Why not check it out?
(So much fun for a Subway Series--Make a shortstop here, and you won't be sorry)
