The best pizza in Muncie is Greek's Pizzeria located in the Village. Their motto, "It's Our Taste," perfectly reflects the quality of the pies they cook up.

While Pizza King has the most unique style of pizza in the Muncie area, the small Indiana chain (three stores) known as Greek's is heads above them in taste. Located on a corner in the Village area southeast of Ball State University on University, Greek's has been serving hot pizza pie to college student and the Muncie area for decades.

The pizza's flavor is unsurpassed for the type of pizza-standard medium crust pizza as you would get at any of the chains, like Domino's, Little Caesars, Papa Murphy's, and Papa John's. This is because Greek's uses fresh vegetables and the crusts aren't prefab and frozen. Instead Greek's makes all of their pizza dough fresh daily.

A visit to the Muncie Village store is a treat in itself. A quaint restaurant with a very distinct retro-Italian feel to it, it is quiet even when filled with customers. Their patrons seem to know that it's a family establishment, not a beer joint like other places on the Village strip.

Our server was warm and inviting, smiling and courteous as she took our order-an extra-large pepperoni pizza (they have small, medium, and extra-large only) and an order of their garlic bread sticks. When our food came, we were greeted by a wave of freshly melted cheese and baked pepperoni and garlic. The pizza is covered from edge to edge with cheese; it's not like many of the large chains that scrimp with their cheese trying to pass it off as a "cheese" pizza. Rather, at Greek's you are nearly always guaranteed to have that cheese cover every bit of the pie-and that goes for delivered and dine-in pizzas. While not a fan of crusty pizzas, Greek's is the only standard-type of pizza crust I will eat. It is lightly coated with a garlic butter that enhances the tendency for dry, floury crust. The toppings are a fresh as they advertise too. The sauce is as unique a sauce as I've had. While it's easy to describe most to the flavors you'll get from the sauce, there's no way to describe the culminating effect of those herbs and spices satisfactorily. Let me just say that the sauce caps the experience of eating their pizza because it makes the mouth water.

As for the garlic sticks: they come topped with an abundant amount of garlic butter as well as swimming in it. You can either enjoy the fresh baked garlic sticks as they are or dip them in the extra butter, in the side of pizza sauce or cheese you get or any other combination. There is no particular need to dip the sticks in the sauce or cheese, though, as the burst of garlic butter that hits you will get your mouth watering even more than the pizza will.

An added benefit, consider it a fringe benefit of your meal, is that Greek's loves tootsie rolls. Each pizza includes with it some tootsie rolls to finish off your experience.

Of course, pizza isn't all they carry, but it is the best food we've tried to date. Greek's also offers free delivery and daily specials that satisfy the taste buds too.

Once you finish this dining experience-at home or in their store front-you will walk away salivating and saying to yourself, "It is the taste!"
