The Greeks were advanced in many ways, one of these was architecture. The Greeks built huge buildings, towns, cities, and temples. The Greeks architecture influenced many cultures including the U.S. The use of pillars and columns to hold up the great weight of these buildings was a huge advancement and stuck with many different cultures through history. In Athens the Parthenon played a huge role because it was a role model to all other buildings and helped show how bigger buildings could be built.
Not only did the Greeks make advancements in architecture but also in mathematics. Pythagoras in 400 BC made a theorem that was used to calculate the missing length of a side of a triangle. This theorem was not only used in his time but is now used in math classes all around the world and is a major advancement. Also Euclid made a huge advancement in math. He created proposition Fifteen, a theorem, which says if two straight lines intersect that the opposite angles will always be equal. Not only is Pythagorean Theorem used in classrooms but so is Euclid's. Both of these men made great advancements in mathematics and helped not only the Greeks but the whole world.
Philosophy also played a major role in Greeks achievements in history. Hippocrates was a great man and once said to never hurt or harm any of his patients. All Hippocrates wanted to do was to help as many people as he could. Socrates, another great philosopher who wanted people to ask questions about life once said that an unexamined life is not worth living, which means that it's not worth living if you don't examine the world around you and your life. Socrates was a great man who wanted to know more about the world and why everything was like it was. Socrates was later poisoned for his beliefs soon after the Peloponnesian war. Many believe that he had the chance to escape from death but he didn't believe that there was a point, since his beliefs would not do any good anywhere else. Aristotle, another great, famous philosopher believed that everyone was created equal. Aristotle set up one of the most first schools for philosophy and also was a tutor for Alexander the Great and went on many expeditions with him
The Greeks had many achievements and advancements that are still important today. Achievements from Math to Philosophy to Architecture. All of these advancements were very important in the time of there founders and are still important today and will still be important many days in the future.
