Green Auto Blogging: Best Eco-Car Blogs on the Web Today

Phillip Chan
Think the Prius is the only hybrid on the market today? Think again. Eco-friendly automobiles and high miles per gallon is where the auto industry is focusing on right now. Many different environmentally friendly vehicles are being designed and built, with some are already on the market today. Keep up with the latest news for green automobiles through these top environmentally-focused web blogs.

Gas 2.0

Gas 2.0 is one of the big names in environmental auto blogs and I have been following it for several years. In fact, it has been the one of my main sources of information on biofuels, alternative energy and new eco cards ever since my interest in alternative energy and green living started. The blog has been up since 2007 and is constantly updated with the different news and happenings in the eco car world. Electric vehicles, hybrids (both plug-in and hybrid electric), biodiesel, diesel and alternative fuels are the key focuses of Gas 2.0. I love one of their recent posts, about the new Nissan Leaf commercial (featuring a polar bear hugging the owner of this new eco car), check it out here.

Auto Blog Green

Auto Blog Green is another of the big players in today's green automobile blogging movement. Like Gas 2.0, it is constantly updated with the latest info on different advances and released for eco cars everywhere. It does have fairly heavy-weight backing, from Aol Autos (part of their group), and is linked to several other very popular web blogs, including Joystiq (gaming), Engadget (tech), and Daily Finance. It is one of the first blogs to pop up in Google when looking for info on green automobiles and for good reason, as it has thousands of posts on the topic.

Green Garage Blog

Green Garage Blog focuses on the Green EcoCar: The Next Challenge, a three-year college competition for designing environmentally friendly vehicles. The competition is sponsored by General Motors (GM) and the United States Department of Energy (DOE). It is an interesting blog, looking more at the design aspect of green vehicles and definitely worth checking out.

Tree Hugger

Treehugger is not focused primarily on autoblogging, as it covers all of environmentally friendly news on its popular blog. However, it does often discuss the latest news for eco cars, biofuels and other issues. I've included it here for the sake of completeness, as it certainly offers a lot of information.
