Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers Off to Super Bowl XLV
Green Bay Packers Beat Chicago Bears 21-14 and Pittsburgh Steelers Beat the Jets 24-19
The Green Bay Packers last went to the Super Bowl January 25, 1998 against the Denver Broncos to which they lost 31-24. The Green Bay Packers have played in four Super Bowls. In Super Bowl I the packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs 35-10. Back then the Super Bowl wasn't called that instead it was called the AFL-NFL Championship. The following year in Super Bowl II they won against the Oakland Raiders with a score of 33-14. Green Bay did not return to the Super Bowl until 1997 when they played and won 35-21 against the New England Patriots.
The Green Bay Packers joined the league in 1921 and have since won twelve NFL Championships.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have played seven Super Bowls. In Super Bowl IX in 1975 they played the Minnesota Vikings and won 16-6. During Super Bowl X in 1976 they played the Dallas Cowboys and won 21-17. In Super Bowl XIII in 1979 they played the Dallas Cowboys and won again 35-31. In 1980 came Super Bowl XIV, they played the Los Angeles Rams and won 31-19. During Super Bowl XXX in 1996 they played the Dallas Cowboys and lost 27-17. In 2006 they played in Super Bowl XL against the Seattle Seahawks and won 21-10. In 2009 they played Super Bowl XLIII against the Arizona Cardinals and won 27-23.
Super Bowl XLV will be one for the history books. The two teams will go head to head February 6, 2011 in Arlington, Texas home stadium to the Dallas Cowboys.
