Green: The New Black for Spring 2009

Ashley Woods
It's spring time again; which means it's time to bring the outside in and brighten the wintry dullness of a closed up house all winter long.

Green harmonizes relaxation and comforting qualities by rendering nature-like feelings and emotions. This is why so many spas use green in their decor, mixed with brown and blue hues.

Below are some color combinations selected from my local Wal-Mart that you can use as a guide to creating your own green color coordinations. These color combinations can be used as wall color or to get an idea of what color accessories you should add to your decor.

Color Combinations from Wal-Mart:

Verdure D22 and Autumn Breeze B1 - Perfect if you like bold colors and want the green to pop.

Green Light D15 and Party Pink A16 - Great for a little girl's nursery.

Sweet Pea D10 and Cachepot Green E15 - Beautiful color combination for a light and airy feel.

Terrene Brown H24 and Sweet Pea D10 - These two colors are a perfect pair if you're looking for spa-like qualities.

Wild Asparagus 93282 - A very subtle green for those of you who are afraid of bold, dramatic colors.

To further assist you in your decision making for adding spurts of green to your home, consider the following tips:

Use a variety of shades and textures of green.

Use big, bold patterns paired with smaller floral and geometric prints for a layered, balanced look.

Use small accessories such as a rug, lamb, or vase to add small spurts of color if you are cautious of too much green.
