Earth Day is a great time to teach your kids how to do their part to help the environment. It's also the perfect day to get your hands a little dirty with a few green crafts for kids.

This community consists of sites like, Kaboose.com and Etsy.com, where green crafts have become an increasingly popular way to reuse and re-purpose items rather than just toss them into the trash -- used paper towel rolls, Popsicle sticks, Cat Litter containers, broken crayons, and unwanted towels are all items that can double for a green craft ideas that are fun for kids.

It's a green movement that is gaining in popularity everywhere from green crafts shows to events like the Renegade Handmade Craft Fair. Working equally with our economy and equally with our carbon footprint, arts-and-crafter's have embraced reusing household items because there is a great demand for green crafts, especially for kids.

The idea behind reusing household items in green craft projects for kids is to reduce the amount of trash going to our landfills, to teach your children about why we celebrate Earth Day and to learn how we can help contribute to a green lifestyle. Plus, not only does this educate the younger generation, but it also encourages parents to reflect the amount of trash in the household and the results of that consumption.

This Earth Day, teach your kids how to make their own homemade watercolor paint. It is an easy, green, activity that will teach your kids that not only is it economical to make your own paints, but its safer for the environment to make a paint out of all natural ingredients.
