After hearing their first single, Know Your Enemy, I thought to myself that this was going to be an awful album. The song was very repetitive and did not sound like the Green Day I once knew back when they put Dookie out. Now that was quite an album. I barely gave 21st Century Breakdown a chance after hearing this song. Then I was listening to the radio on a sunny afternoon with my family and heard the song 21 Guns. I first thought that this was an old 90's song until I heard it was from Green Day, and this was when I began to look into this song. Well just read what my research led me to finding...
In their new single from 21st Century Breakdown, 21 Guns has been praised as one of their best songs in ages. Though they have received praise, people have started to notice one fatal flaw in this song. About 3 minutes into the song, the Full House theme song can easily be heard in the form of Billie Joe Armstrong's guitar solo. At first glance, I could barely notice it but something seemed familiar about his solo. After listening through it a couple times and doing some more research on the internet, I realized that this was a direct rip off of the old Full House show that we all used to watch growing up. I don't know if this information was supposed to be released to the public, since most songs now sample multiple songs from the past.
After thinking about it for a while, I thought that even though many bands use other songs to enhance their own songs, why would anybody use the Full House theme song? I am just wondering if Green Day has gotten lazy and doesn't take pride in the music they once made, or if they purposely used this theme song to go with the flow of the song. Either way, I was thoroughly disappointed that Green Day would do such of a thing. I will still continue to listen to this song, but in the back of my mind I will always remember that they stole their solo from one of the most iconic kid's shows while I was growing up.

Post a CommentIts very similar yes and follows the note progression, however it does not follow the chord progression. seeing as the rest of the song is in this, to put it simply, family of chords this is a very nice sounding progression. If I had a guess its probably mere coincidence. Also read up on some Green Day history, his dad died in 82, the band formed in 87. maby it has some meaning to him (Full house started in 85)
listen to the solo. It's right there.
