Green Living Ideas for Earth Friendly Gifts - Recycle and Reuse

Ideas for Earth-Friendly Gifts that Are New and Reusable or Even Collector's Vintage Items that Are New or Used but Reusable

An earth-friendly idea for the bottled water fan

Evian began bottling drinking water in glass water bottles and while they later switched to PVC they have been making limited editions of exclusive glass water bottles for a few years and they're available worldwide. A search on the Ebay online auction service could bring up some of their older collector items complete with pictures and in new, unused and unopened condition. Aquasana also makes a designer glass water bottle that is reusable with never any plastic taste and leaves nothing for the landfills. Just wash and reuse and wash and reuse. Or, buy some iced tea sealed in glass bottles with resealable caps and reuse for water bottles. Keep a fresh-filled supply in the refrigerator.

Earth-friendly gifts of candles

Soy candles are made from a renewable source. Some supermarkets and special stores carry this all-natural product or have some fun making your own. They last longer than paraffin and produce less soot. Wax spills can easily be cleaned with hot soapy water. They are cooler burning and release scents faster.

Beeswax candles are earth-friendly. Another candle that is environmentally-friendly is the beeswax candle. The natural color variations that begin in shades of nearly white and change into yellows and browns are dependent on the purity and types of flower pollen oils. The natural scent is also from the flower and it's another renewable resource. Beeswax burns cleaner with very little dripping wax and visible smoke. Look for cotton wicks.

Green-living gifts of perennial plants from your own organic garden

If you love to get out in the garden and experiment with plants, then you probably already know how to remove a "clipping" from your favorite old trailing rose or shrub and cause it to root. A little care will turn it into a strong healthy potted plant ready to live and bloom in a friend's garden - and you know this one is hardy and will survive and flourish in this time zone because you've had success with it for years. Include a pretty gift tag with hand-written planting instructions and care.

Earth-friendly gifts are very available for the serious fan of green living.

It's nice to go green. Sometimes what seems green isn't, though. Take those mercury-containing lightbulbs. Oh, if properly disposed, maybe. But is the average purchaser REALLY going to go to the trouble to recycle?
