Then Oct. 11 and 12 in Carrollton in historic downtown at I-35 and Beltline Road check out Santa Fe Days. Hours are 9-5 Sat. and 10-5 Sun. and the cost is free. Native American artists will share their heritage offering jewelry, pottery, and other artifacts for sale.

Over in Fort Worth on Oct. 11 train fans will savor the 2008 Annual Railroad Show at Lockheed Martin Recreation Area at 3400 Bryant Irvin Road from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $7 for adults and children ten and under get in free.

Kid animal lovers will enjoy Sundown Safari at the Dallas Zoo (6500 S. R.L. Thornton Freeway) Oct. 17 through the 18, 6:30 to 9 p.m. The cost is $20.00. The education department is conducting the evening safari tour which lets attendees get up close and personal with some of the animals.

Oct. 25-26 families can partake in Hallow Harvest at the Dallas Arboretum, located at 8525 Garland Road, 12-4 Sat. and 1-4 Sun. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, and children 3-12 pay $5.00. There will be trick or treating, a petting zoo, face painting, and pumpkin carving contest.

Also on the 25th help raise funds for people and critters at Dallas' "Walk, Wag & Run" at Winfrey Point on White Rock Lake (8949 Garland Road). The fifth annual event, sponsored by Lakewood Service League, is to be held from 9-2 and the cost is $25 before Oct. 23 and $30 on race day. A community festival, the fundraiser promotes Halloween fun and fitness for your family and furry friends, all to benefit those in need.
