These policies that have become known as the Green It Policies will help you discover ways to be eco-friendly. Each policy that is listed outlines only a portion of what their green policy has to offer. If you are interested in all their ways that they are making an effort to be more eco-friendly, check out their green policies that are in affect.
Green Fleet Policy
This green policy was set up by the town of Castle Rock in order to reduce emissions and increase fuel economy. The green policy holds a lot of quick notes to help their residence. Some of the quick notes include; replacing fleet units with alternative fuel vehicles, creating a pool of vehicles accessible by departments, getting employees to use different methods of transportation such as using public transportation, not allowing town vehicles to idle more than 30 seconds unless required when parked, and much more. If the town proceeds to use these green guidelines they will save approximately 500,000 pounds per year of carbon dioxide, as reported by Your Hub.
More towns are starting to have a green policy in place after realizing the many benefits that our economy would have. Another place that is helping others to go green is the National Recycle Coalition with their Green Meetings Policy.
Green Meetings Policy
The National Recycle Coalition brought on the Green Meetings Policy in an effort to try to get everyone to be more eco-friendly. They encourage everyone to adapt their methods of going green to save money and save the earth. Some of the things that are outlined in the Green Meetings Policy are; general information such as always using the front and back of paper to copy, promotional material such always using electronic advertising instead of paper, making onsite materials more eco-friendly by reusing name badges, speaker handouts should be given in the form of electronics such as telling people to view a website instead of handing out flyers, eliminating disposable service wear such as replacing paper plates with China, and the list goes on. There is over well over a hundred items that are listed in the Green Meetings Policy that everyone can use for their home and business to become more eco-friendly. This small report was taken from the Green Meetings Policy that was put out by the National Recycle Coalition.
There are many ways that you can go green and maybe even create a Green It Policy in your town or community.
Now that we know some really good plans that are taking place, let's take a look at some of the things that we can do to create our own Green It Policy in our homes.
Reduce Waste
There are plenty of things that you can recycle in your home and many places are now taking recycled products. Check with your city and see if they have recycle bins or where recycled products can be taken. There are guidelines that need to be followed when recycling products so be sure to check these out.
Reduce Carbon Dioxide
Many people can't afford to purchase an eco-friendly vehicle even if it would save them a lot of money in the long run. If you are one of these people who simply can't do it, opt for creating a car pool service for the company that you work for. Whenever possible route your trips to save gas and time, and also walk or ride your bike as much as possible.
Save Water
There are many ways that you can save on water and I even outlined this in an article on How to Save Money on Your Water Bill. Saving water is as easy as making a few lifestyle changes such as recycling water by reusing the water that you cook with or reusing the bath water.
Other ways of being eco-friendly
There are many websites online that will show you different methods of going green and some will even help you to create a Green It Policy for your community. Saving the earth can be done one step at a time but if we all chose to go green, we would be making a huge impact on this earth.
