Green Technology: Fresh-Code Bar-Code Will Tell You How Green Your Vegetables Really Are

A couple of months ago I brought you the awesome news about the Fresh-Code. This is an environmentally friendly product that was created with the latest technology to help us know what vegetables and fruits are fresh. A group of researchers in Japan have been working around the clock to make this product come out sooner than later. It is with excitement that I bring to you the most recent update about this product with a brief overview of how it works.

As a former grocery employee I can tell you that when I first learned of this product excitement entered my body. The Fresh-Code will give consumers more confidence in the products that they are purchasing. It will also force businesses to make sure that there is a fresher selection of product available at all times. This will greatly affect how much fruit and vegetables are sold.

Some may argue that you can simply tell if vegetables and fruit are going bad by looking at them. From experience I can tell you that this is not always the case. A lot of times fruits and vegetables are covered in so many different chemicals that it can mask how spoiled a product really is. You know the horrible feeling that you get when you bring a fresh batch of strawberries home and they go bad after just a day. The Fresh-Code will prevent this from ever happening again.

What we have here is a creatively designed bar-code that acts intelligent. The bar-code acts intelligent through the use of a graph. This graph indicates the freshness level of the product. Just as you would assume, whenever the product decreases in freshness the bar-code will recede. This process will continue until the Fresh-Code's graph reaches "0". When a product reaches this level it should no longer be displayed and thrown out.

Naturally the freshest products will have the longer bar-codes. Imagine being able to walk into a grocery store and know that you ended up purchasing one of the better products instead of just taking a shot in the dark. I have several years of being a produce manager under my belt and I can tell you it is just as hard for us to know what is fresh and what is not. Yet we pretend to know what we are talking about and you end up going home with a good or bad product. The Fresh-Code would drastically change things for the better.

It was stated originally that the Fresh-Code would not become a reality for several more years when I first broke the story a few years ago. The good news is that the Fresh-Code Bar-Code is ready to be released. However, the bad news is that the creators of this product will now have to fight the entire grocery industry in making it widely available. They will most likely have to go to government and get it passed universally. We all should keep our eye our for this technology because it is environmentally friendly and pretty damn amazing.
