Green Uses for Old Gloves

Things You Can Do with Old Gloves

Chad R. Herman
We all have gloves hanging around the house. Gloves are needed in cold weather, but what happens when no one int heir right mind would wear them out of the house. Do you throw the gloves away? Of course you don't want to throw them away. This is the age of recycling and looking for the greenest way of living. If you're interested in making some money, if you take them to the local flea market, someone might pay to buy these pathetic excuses of clothing. However, what these people do not understand is that these gloves still have uses.

Worn out gloves are great for polishing or cleaning. The old gloves are the best applicators for polish or window cleaning solution. It's absorbent and it's cloth so it won't leave streaks, and it's worn on your hand. This idea of wearing your cleaning cloth on your hand is just a great idea.you don't have to have the polish touch your hand. In addition to that, it will save you from using the large amount of paper towels that are clogging our landfills already.

Old gloves are great for the furry four legged part of the family. We often forget are pets when it comes to reusing and recycling. When you pet a dog with a pair of gloves, you'll notice that the shedding hair comes right off. If you have one of the those breeds that spend most of their time shedding, put on some old gloves and pet away. Not only do gloves get dog hair off the dogs, many gloves do wonders getting hair off of clothes. If your worn out gloves do not do a very good job, put some doubt stick tape all over them and you have a hand sized lint brush. Not only that, many of the dogs that I've been around love it when you pet them with gloves on. There's just somethign about the way a pair of gloves rubbing over them that just makes them smile and kick their leg.

Another great green use for those worn out gloves is to help you in the garden. Garden gloves are expensive, usually uncomfortable, and are there just to protect your hands. There's no reason your gardening gloves have to be so cumberson and horrible. A pair of worn out gloves, as long as they don't have holes in them, can be used for all of your garden needs. Even if they do have holes in them, if you are only using the gloves for grip and pulling, your hand might get a little dirty. Gloves, in general, are supposed to help you protect your hands, and aid in gripping various items. These qualities are the same qualities you look for in a good pair of garden gloves. The last great part of this is that if they get destroyed in the process, you haven't lost anything

Whether its polishing, working in the garden, or taking off unwanted pet hair, old gloves can still be of great use. You can even cut them into strips for an impromptu art project. These are the best kind, because you end up looking like the greatest most put together parent. Old gloves also give kids the illusion that they are sliding down the pole faster. They can become their supper fast pole sliders. When we start thinking about old gloves in a new way, we can start thinking about everything in anew way.
