Green Wedding Ideas; Choosing Green Wedding Garments

An eco friendly wedding can be the perfect way for a newly married couple to start living a green lifestyle. Part of green wedding planning should be garments that will be worn for the ceremony. Everyone in the wedding can wear an outfit that is considered green, even the bride. After all, wedding attendees will have their eyes on the bride and whatever she is wearing. A trendy bride can make a fashionable, environmentally conscious statement by wearing a green dress to her wedding.

Here are some suggestions on how to choose green wedding garments for the entire bridal party, even the bride and groom;

Promote recycling at traditional weddings or church weddings by choosing tuxedos that are from resale clothing stores. Or completely skip tuxedos by having groomsmen and groom wear already owned suits. Suit ties can be in same color tones or patterns. The groom can stand out with a different colored vest or tie.

Green beach wedding garments can be made out of organic silk or hemp. Have groom and groomsmen wear linen pants for a beach wedding that are made out of hemp. Groom and groomsmen t-shirts can be in white and made out of organic cotton.
Bridesmaids can wear dresses made out of organic silk, which is considered a sustainable fabric.

For that very important wedding gown check at a local resale shop or thrift store. Look for a vintage bridal gown or dress on online auction sites as well. In case a wedding dress of your choice is vintage but slightly outdated, find a local seamstress that can alter the dress and freshen it up.

Another green wedding dress alternative is purchasing a dress that can be worn again. This can be a trendy dress that is in style, as well as white or off-white such as a traditional wedding dress. A beach alternative to a wedding gown can be a long, white dress that can be worn to other occasions.

Bridesmaids can wear any already owned dress in a particular color choice. For example, a bride can request her bridesmaids to wear all green dresses in their choice of length or style. Shoes can be reused as well, as most women already own a black pair of heels.

Ask wedding guests to come in green clothing as well. This can be done by politely asking guests to not purchase new clothing, and come in appropriate outfits already owned. As a couple to be married, explain your wishes for eco-sensitive and sensible wedding festivities.

After your green wedding try to donate wedding attire and even the wedding dress. Groom's suit can be donated to a local thrift shop, as well as any other pieces of wedding clothes. Foundations such as idofoundation.org accepts wedding dress donations to raise funds for the charity of your choice.

    These are some interesting ideas. It's a break in the traditional way of doing things, but who doesn't enjoy being unique?
