Green Weddings: The New Rage for Newlyweds

Plan Your Own Green Wedding

TM
Days Of Our Lives fans know that Lucas and Sami are planning a green wedding, what many may not know is exactly what a green wedding entails. As more brides to be are becoming environmentally conscious; green wedding are becoming the rage for weddings.

The first factor in a green wedding is to consider what you can get recycled or at least have the ability of recycling yourself when you are done with it. When you look at all the things that are put into a wedding a large part of it can become environmentally friendly. Most weddings are full of wasted products and energy, but it doesn't have to be that way.

Invitations

Have your invitations printed on recycled paper using soy inks. Also you can have your guest RSVP with a postcard instead of wasting an envelope to send it back to you. There are many green printers online and if you do a bit of research you can usually find one in your area.

Food

Include organic and vegetarian dishes in your green wedding meal. Organic grocers are popping up everywhere and even some catering companies are now catering to green weddings. Check the internet or your local yellow pages to find someone who will help you make your meal green. When it comes to dishes, if possible use something that is not disposable but if your must use disposable dishes make sure you use something that is recyclable and make sure you follow through and recycle them.

Flowers

Find an organic florist for your flower arrangements or to really have a green wedding use potted plants instead. You can give these center pieces to your guests as a reminder of your wedding and a way for them to easily make the environment in their own home a bit friendlier. There is zero waste with a potted plant and they can either continue to grow in someone's home or yard for years to come.

Forego The Fancy Car

Instead of showing up in a gas guzzling car, why not have the bride arrive via horse drawn carriage? If you must have a car then use an electric vehicle instead of a gas powered vehicle. There are even limousine companies that now offer an eco-friendly limo for your green wedding.

Reconsider Your Clothing

Usually, the clothing that the bride and groom wear are worn once. While the groom usually rents his clothing the bride buys a dress that hangs in the closet for the rest of her life. Why not check out a vintage clothier and buy a dress from them or consider getting a dress in natural fabrics such as hemp?

Location, Location, Location

A successful green wedding has a great deal with the location. If you are in a country club or hall that is lit up and using energy faster than you can say "I do" you might want to consider making some changes. Maybe an outdoor ceremony and reception is in order. If you must have the country club then request that the reception is lit solely by candlelight. The candle not only makes for a romantic setting but it also makes it eco-friendly.

It is not that difficult to plan a green wedding and covering all aspects of that wedding naturally is much easier than you might think. Many wedding planners are very experienced in green weddings and they can help you have the green wedding of your dreams. Why not start your life together by doing something that makes a difference; have a green wedding.
