It's an unprecedented battle of the rappers. But who wins the rap battle-much less the football game? It's a question only perhaps more important than "which Super Bowl commercial is the best". Another Super Bowl sideshow that has grown legs just in time for an epic battle between the Steelers and Packers.
So how did this Green and Yellow versus Black and Yellow battle start? Some may argue on the football field. While that is true, it also originated earlier this year when rapper Wiz Khalifa put "Black and Yellow" on the scene. The "Black and Yellow" song by Wiz Khalifa features a bunch of towel waving Pittsburgh Steeler fans and it can be viewed on YouTube here. Over 31 million people have listened to the Wiz Khalifa Black and Yellow video as of the Friday before the Super Bowl.
It just might be one of the best "pump you up" football songs ever created. Wiz Khalifa not only recorded a song with strong football related lyrics but he also put together a beat that just kind of speaks "sports" and pregame. It's that good.
So what happened next? Lil Wayne Green and Yellow-that's what happened. Lil Wayne, who is from New Orleans, somehow has thrown out a parody of the Wiz Khalifa song with his own version. The Lil Wayne Green and Yellow just doesn't have the same beat or feel--perhaps that's because it's a bit of a parody. Green Bay Packer fans have to feel a bit ripped off with their own parody version instead of an original Packers song.
The Lil Wayne Green and Yellow song can be found here on YouTube. The Lil Wayne Green and Yellow song is picking up steam with over 50,000 views on the YouTube video. But it just doesn't have the same feel. The Packers would have been much better without the Lil Wayne addition this late in the game. Lil Wayne Green and Yellow does deliver a few decent one liners in retaliation to the Wiz Khalifa Black and Yellow--but it's not really in the same vicinity. If it's meant to be a parody, it may get a few laughs. But don't look for Packer fans to be screaming "Green and Yellow" if they win the Super Bowl this weekend. If Pittsburgh wins, there's almost a guarantee that "Black and Yellow" will be blasting hard on the speakers in Dallas. It's just that good.
Author Warning: Both songs have some controversial lyrics that might not be suitable for youngsters.
