Greendimes has three different services. First is their Greendimes basic package, and it is free but you have to do it yourself. Second is their Greendimes premium package, and it costs $20. Greendimes takes you off those junk mail lists, and they do the monthly monitoring. They will also plant 5 trees on your behalf and customer service is always available to help you. Last is the Greendimes Bundle. This costs $36, and it includes everything that the premium package has, plus a Greendimes reusable bag, a Greendimes t-shirt and two energy saving flourescent light bulbs.
I think that what they're doing is a great thing! It will cut down the amount of paper used, which means it will cut down the amount of trees being taken from our forests. They also give back to our environment by planting trees in behalf of their customers names. Not only that, you won't have to worry about those junk mails that I'm sure we all don't like.
I, myself, have actually tried many ways to get myself and my husband out of those junk mail lists. All the junk mail we receive just goes in the recycle bin anyway. And trust me, I do get a lot of them on a daily basis. My husband and I also turn off lights in rooms that aren't being used. We also try not to drive too much. We do all of our errands in one time instead of driving to places multiple times in one day. Like I said above, we do recycle. We also try to use less water. We only water the plants in our front yard once a week and we never keep the water running while brushing our teeth.
There are many other things we can do to help our environment. Every little bit helps and if we all do those little things, it will amount to much more than we can imagine. It isn't always possible for us to replace our cars and appliances but if there's a possibility, we should do it! They will pay for themselves in the long run with the amount of money we can save from gas and electricity bills.
It is important for all of us to act. Greendimes is one way we can help our environment. We can always just use their basic package and do it ourselves during our spare time or spent the $20! I really believe that what they are doing is great! They are helping us and the environment at the same time!
