The soy bean is native to East Africa and is an excellent source of protein. A textured vegetable protein from the soybean is used in many meat and dairy products, prepackaged meals, even animal feeds. It is showing up in cosmetics and is being processed into a non-dairy milk. In the baby world it serves as an alternative formula for those sensitive to cow's milk. Containing 38% potassium in a 3.5 oz. food serving, it is a great energizer that provides nourishment to the hungry cells of the body.

Eco friendly fashions from garden beans - soy?
In some attempts to recycle, reuse and reduce leftover pulp from processed soy products, such as tofu and soybean oil, this newer fiber was created and has clothing designers very interested. Made from natural organic fibers from the soybean, environmentally friendly clothes are getting a lot of news coverage. How about a dress made from the natural origin green fiber? Newer lines of clothing are from designers that are experimenting with using renewable materials in designing clothing, purses, shoes and other accessories.

The breaking strength of natural soy fiber is reported to be better than silk, wool or cotton? Giving better ventilation than cotton, there is also no shrinking under natural washing conditions of this finished clothing fabric.
Azlon
The FTC has classified the material produced from soy fibers as Azlon. Having great draping abilities, the knitted soy fabrics are soft, smooth and light, similar to cashmere. It needs no dry cleaning and is easy to care for. The natural coloring of the fiber is a light yellow and it can easily be dyed into different colors.
The soybean is a renewable resource, biodegradable and can even be produced in an organic manner. Soy fiber can be used to create sustainable clothing. The future of the soybean, in the hands and minds of earth friendly consumers and scientists, is looking good.

Great article! I learned something new.
I'm glad they're finding many uses for this simple, natural product. Unfortunately, I once read that soybeans aren't particularly good for males, but only for females. That's disturbing. It's disturbing because if it is so, it still won't stop the commercial world from purveying such products to both sexes.
