Ed McKay's

Greensboro, NC 27408

This is a wonderful used bookstore, that I really like visiting whenever possible. They have a huge selection of books to choose from, and also purchase book from customers. I used to like to fill my car with books I was no longer reading and take them to Ed McKay's offering them exchange for store credit (which is usually more than you will get in cash). Once I was given an amount I would then spend that amount on my own little shopping spree around the store. All of their books are in good condition, and the store itself is very well organized for a used bookstore. and I can usually find everything I'm looking for, assuming they have it.
My only complaint, which is a good thing, too is that they are very particular about what they will and will not buy from customers. So, sometimes my old editions of books and what not they will not buy from me. On one hand, I want them to buy them…but if they took everyone's crap then the store would be full of stuff no one wants. So, it's good that they are particular. They also have a great selection CDs and DVDs as well you can look at, so it's just like a regular bookstore…only used.
Borders Books Music Movies & Café
2605 High Point Rd

As far as chain bookstores go, I think that this borders is one of the best. It's located in a not so good part of town, which is its only drawback. I am reluctant to venture out this far on High Point rd after the sunsets. Before hand however it is a really nice bookstore. I've gone here to look for a few books that I couldn't find at other locations. The staff has always been very pleasant and helped me find exactly what I was looking for. The way their store is set up still kind of confuses me, but I think that it due in part to the fact that I am not a regular borders customer. They will have people perform here often as well, which is pretty cool.
White Rabbit Books
1833 Spring Garden St
Greensboro NC 27403

White Rabbit books is Greensboro's only bookstore that caters specifically to the gay and lesbian population in the area. Inside there are tons of different homosexual related books, as well as gift items. When this store first came to town it was met with a great deal of controversy. The items in the store however are very tastefully displayed, and the bookstore does a good job in creating a comfortable shopping environment for everyone regardless of their sexual orientation. I would recommend everyone give the store a visit, they have lots of neat gift items not necessarily sexual in nature, as well as a good selection of books.
