West End Movies is new to Greenville, South Carolina, having only opened its doors in March 2009. According to Metromix, co-founders Richard and Julia Fowler decided to open the theater out of working at their IT operation located at the same space. They would watch the visitors wander the area in search of something to do after visiting Falls Park and grabbing a bite to eat. It occured to the Fowlers that their spot was the perfect location for an additional destination for visitors to the West End, and the concept for West End Movies was born shortly thereafter.
So, what sort of movies does West End Movies have to offer? The June schedule provides an eclectic mix ranging from Forbidden Planet to All Quiet on the Western Front to The Cabinet of Dr.Caligari . Almost all of the films are available for only $3.00 a ticket, unless there is a special screening of some kind. The screening room is informal with a big screen in front of an exposed brick wall. Before the films themselves, West End Movie often starts with a brief old news reel or animated short, recreating the atmosphere of the movie houses of old.
The West End Movies website is a destination onto itself. Aside from providing the obligatory schedule and directions in a slick and navigable format, the West End Movies website also provides some unique features that make the site worth bookmarking. For instance, there is a daily animation feature which streams classic and modern samples of compelling animations.
West End Movies is located at Studio Two Hundred, 640 S. Main Street in Greenville, South Carolina. They can be reached via telephone at (864)354-6666 or through the West End Movies website. Advanced tickets can also be purchased at their website. Refreshments to include popcorn, soda and coffee are available.
