Greet Spring in Great Style

Stylish Dresses and Accessories for Easter or Spring

L. Lee Scott
Whether or not they celebrate Easter, for most people that date is seen as the true beginning of spring, and the time to bring out your best spring fashions. And perhaps an Easter bonnet - or in these days, a big Kentucky-derby style sunhat.

Two of the most popular colors for women's clothing this spring are pink and green, and floral prints are hot. A great choice for a spring dress is this halter dress from Tommy Bahama. The flattering full skirt is topped by a fitted bodice, with a back-of-the-neck tie to make sure everything fits just right. The color is "tickled pink" and the print has a subtle stripe behind a blooming orchid print.

If pink is just not your thing, try this strapless dress from ABS/Allen Schwartz in sea mist. The ultra-feminine flowing blue skirt has a bold floral print in shades of blue and green. Add a shrug or 3/4-sleeve jacket to the strapless top, and this dress will take you anywhere.

Accessories are another great showplace for spring tones. Whether you choose a dressy spike-heeled sling-back like the magenta peep-toed "Jumbo" by Stuart Weitzman, with a dressy bow atop the satin upper, or the less-expensive "Dainty" from Pleaser USA, in pastel pink satin with a little ruffle around the collar and a "dainty" bow on the vamp, you'll be tip-toeing through spring tulips in style. If you'd rather go green, the Danika from Trotters is a lower-heeled woven-leather shoe in kiwi green with a buckled back-strap and hidden elastic for a day (or evening) of perfect fit. Looking for a little more "oomph" in your shoe? You can't go wrong with the ankle-strapped Electra from Nina. With a spike heel, open toe, and over-sized bow on the vamp of this electric-green shoe, this choice is an eye-catcher in any crowd.

Besides shoes, bags should pop with spring flower color. Harveys Seatbelt makes this darling convertible clutch in ruffled rose. Wear it with the strap cross-body, or remove the strap for a true clutch. If you prefer a handbag, try this shopper in light pistachio from Kathy Van Zeeland, complete with croc-embossed trim. It'll hold the basics, and you'll show your good taste with Kathy's signature on the outside pocket.

Don't forget a good spring hat. Go with the classics with this braided ribbon straw sunhat from Juicy Couture. The watermelon and white stripes will turn heads as you keep the sun off of yours, protecting your face and hair from sun damage in grand style. Wear it to the races, lunch at a sidewalk café, or your favorite spring garden.

From head to toe, meet the season in style!

I hope the lasses get to take up spring dresses and clothing soon! It's been cool and rainy here the past month and I'm getting bored with everyone wearing gray or black. ;o)

We're still shivering and tromping through snow here, so this was a welcome preview of spring.
