Greg Oden Pictures: Portland Trailblazers Star Learning the Hard Way About Nude Photos

Roy A. Barnes
The Greg Oden pictures of him nude have led to the frequently and currently injured Portland Trailblazers center to publicly apologize. According to the Huffington Post, the Greg Oden pictures were deemed by him as "very embarrassing." Portland Trailblazers center Greg Oden sent those nude pictures of himself to an old lady friend around a year and a half ago. When will celebrities like him learn that anything they do that's recorded, racy, and released is going to be under more scrutiny and a potential time bomb? He's already having to deal with being out the rest of the 2009-10 NBA season, due to the breaking of his left kneecap in a December 2009 game against the Houston Rockets, according to ESPN.com.

Greg Oden Pictures: Celebrities Need to be More Careful about Releasing Nude Photos

A basketball star like Greg Oden, even one who's been as injured as the Portland Trailblazers center has been, is still in the spotlight. He was the Number 1 draft pick in 2007 after playing just one season at Ohio State, according to his Wikipedia biography. It's true that celebrities, like regular people, have feelings and can get caught up with their sexual "matters"; and thus, may very well feel caught up in the moment of wanting to share their nudity via nude photos with someone they're involved with. It's a way of showing pride in their bodies. But being a part of the culture of celebrity also brings the need to be even more careful. The Greg Oden pictures of his nude body that he sent to that female were a time bomb of embarrassment that went off. What did that woman get in monetary compensation, if anything, for releasing these nude photos? Why would she stoop so low anyway and try to embarrass this man?

Greg Oden Pictures: At Least the Injured Portland Trailblazers Center has been Open about the Nude Photos

I will commend the Portland Trailblazers injured center for at least being open about what happened instead of trying to avoid the media, which would've made it harder on him. Now he needs to focus on getting well as soon as he can so he can contribute more of himself to the sports world athletically instead of through his birthday suit.

Texts, e-mails and videos are all things that can come back to haunt you. When will people learn? Good job.

This is sad, but nicely reported. Cheers.
