Gremlins a 80's Classic Movie

One of my favorite non Star Wars movies from my childhood still remains to be the classic 1984 movie "Gremlins". I remember as a young boy going to see this movie in the theater with my father, and to this day the ending still brings a tear to my eye when Billy has to return his pet mogwi Gizmo to the old Chinese shop keeper.

The movie takes place in a small town where a father picks up some last minute gifts for his family at an old shop in China town. He finds a unique pet their but the shop keep refuses to sell it, later the shop keepers grandson sells it to the father in a back ally, but he gives him the warning to never get it wet, never expose it to sunlight, and to never ever feed it after midnight.

The pet is the kind and loveable Gizmo a furry big eared creature that shows intelligence and kindness to everyone who encounters it. Then one day by accident a friend of the family spills water on Gizmo and after a painful scene several fur balls pop from his back and turn into more mogwi. These mogwi seem cute and loveable like Gizmo but they have a mean streak that only Gizmo see's , after tricking Billy into feeding them after midnight the evil mogwi turn into cocoons overnight and later hatch out as the scaly skinned green monsters known as Gremlins. These creatures wreak havoc on the town causing accidents and trauma to all who encounter them, and then they multiply into hundreds more in a local swimming pool.

I don't want to give away the ending to those few readers who may not have seen this classic comedy horror gem from the 1980's. So if your looking for a different kind of Christmas movie for the family this year, or for a good chuckle and thrill in any season I recommend renting or picking up a copy of Gremlins.
