Grenade Strikes Back Tour - Stop #3: Mountain Creek Resort, New Jersey

Grimley Jones
Grenade Strikes Back at Mountain Creek with longer hair and a company poised for snowboarding revolution. With a mentality geared towards keeping Grenade as personal as possible, Mr. Kass and company (Dingo, Sketchy-D and the likes) are currently on a not-so-classified mission to give the sport back to the kids. In a pre-competition press conference Danny and the Dingo made it very clear that The Grenade Strikes Back tour is not for glam, cash or scantily clad groupies (however, they are welcome), but for all the young boarders who are undoubtedly the future of the sport. During his early years in Scenic Lakes, New Jersey-a town that sends its children to Vernon Twp. High School, but has their mail sent to Hamburg-Danny experienced life as an outcast on the slopes, as snowboarding had not yet exploded into the mainstream. And as a slope child of neglect he felt it was time to show all the Grenade Troops and board fans that this is their time to shine like the icy hills of Mountain Creek.

With, "Viva la Grenade!" as their motto, it is no surprise that Kass and Crew are gathering the troops for what will surely become a revolutionary movement in the sport. Grenade began as a measly glove company created at the hands of two Jersey-bred brothers, Matt and Danny Kass. Since then they have expanded their arsenal to soft goods, goggles, wax and plan to keep creating new gear for the snowboarding enthusiast, regardless if they are a pro or some dirty kid who has a taste for snow-in some cases those are intersecting qualities. The Grenade Strikes Back tour is a 4 stop traveling party that will hold Pro and Amateur competitions accompanied by live musical performances by bands such as: Kill Cheerleader, Deathpact, and Retard Riot among others. The top Amateur from each event will be whisked off to June Mountain in California for the April 20th-21st Grenade Games, which will be a twisted event made up of different age group based competitions, one being a Fear Factor esque event pitting the youngest competitors against the scariest hit on the mountain.

And with a board tour that has a main focus of giving back to the young'uns it is only fitting for Kass to return to the mountain where he spent most of his childhood-Mountain Creek Resort located in the hilly valley of Vernon, NJ. After moving out west at the age of 18, Danny was happily surprised to return to the Creek only to see that the jib park had become one of the best on the East Coast. During his tenor in Jersey, leading up to the day he received a contract that deemed him "professional", Kass saw the early stages of Mountain Creek's terrain park development. However, he never thought he would see the day when snowboarders ruled and had a park they could be proud of. That day has come and the Grenade revolution is lurking closely behind.
