Grey's Anatomy 2007 Season Finale

The Grey's Anatomy season finale was riveting. The end of the show left me waiting for the trailer for next week's episode, except next week's episode will not begin until September or October of this year. There were many unanswered questions; I could not help but want more.

During the last scene we watched a heart broken Christina as she faces the reality that Burke had not only broken their engagement, but also vanished from their apartment and her life. In true Christina fashion, she was panicking in the church vestibule. Why, because through inadvertence she scrubbed the wedding vows so meticulously written on her hands off when prepping for surgery. As expected Burke goes to rescue Christina from herself and has an epiphany..."if I really loved you, I wouldn't try to make you into the woman that I want you to be..." Was Burke truly showing his love for Christina by setting her free or is this some cruel joke?

At the church, Callie smugly gloats as she explains to Izzie that she and George have experienced an emotionally draining day. Callie has been named the new chief of staff and she and George have been working all morning on making a baby. Sweet Izzie, whom we all used to love when she loved Denny but now hate as she continuously attempts to drive George down the road to temptation, separation and divorce looks completely forlorn. While us faithful Grey's Anatomy fans look on in skepticism. Callie is full of beauty, brains, and brawn, but we fear that George will not be able to withstand the wiles of the likes of Izzie. Are the bonds of friendship greater than the vows of marriage?

The former chief of staff, Dr. Richard Webber, exhibits the characteristics of the chivalrous husband we had all hoped he would become as his wife begins the road to recovery after her miscarriage. For years, Grey's mother was his mistress and the hospital his first love. Did it take a near death experience for Richard to realize he loves his wife? I admit he showed character by supporting his wife even though he believed another man fathered the child she miscarried. Will love be rekindled after all?

During this episode Mr. McSteamy (Mark) was nowhere to be found, however, Mr. McDreamy (Derek) declared that Meredith was the love of his life. Displaying the epitome of the tortured lover that would have made Romeo proud, McDreamy declares that he is afraid to love Meredith because she is always leaving him. Meredith's response, "I have to get to the church." Obviously, this was before the demise of Burke and Christina. If only she would have known that the wedding was not going to happen, would Meredith have chosen this moment to stay?

And what about George? Poor George, the only resident to fail his residency exam. Left with two choices, repeating his residency or giving up, George opts to give up. Is it fate or karma? Married to Callie whom he says he loves and cheating with Izzie whom he is trying not to love - sounds more like karma. For George, passing the exam seems a lot easier than marriage. By the way, George, does Callie even know you failed the exam? And why does Miranda slink away in defeat fearing that she has somehow failed him?

I am still not sure what to think about the hit and miss relationship between Alex and Addison. Alex's futile attempt to flirt during the wedding was lame. Did Alex really choose Jane Doe over Addison? Moreover, does Addison really care or is she too concerned about her low egg count?

Next season is going to open with a bang! With the residency exams behind them, the interns must now focus on life and right now life does not look so good. At best, their lives are in shambles.
