Why Did Izzy's Dead Boyfriend Denny Return?
After having to endure tepid Grey's Anatomy episodes with Izzy and Denny, even though I loved having the story line of Izzy and Denny along with hunky Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Izzy's Dead Boyfriend, we could only take so many weeks of ghost sex. Or did it seem longer because there were weeks of holidays between Thanksgiving and Christmas where we missed new episodes of Grey's Anatomy.
Stairway to Heaven Episode in Season 5 x 13 Tells All
The episode's title hints at how Shonda Rhimes and the Grey's Anatomy writing team are going to resolve the Grey's Anatomy story line with Izzy and Denny. Denny as the evil boyfriend, the dead guy who's a reaper. The reason Denny came back to her is not simply to haunt her but to take her back to heaven. Izzy is miffed. Denny As the Grim Reaper Not an Ex Boyfriend Haunting
So what does this all mean? Is Katie Heigl planning to leave Grey's Anatomy to pursue a movie career? We know in the past she's not been happy with the way Shonda Rhimes was treating her character. But Denny the super dead boyfriend has not left quietly when Izzy has asked him to leave so when he walks away, is that the last we've really seen of our hero or is it now devil Denny Duquette or does Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes have even more creative stories up her sleeve to resurrect these characters -- or perhaps a beloved soap opera classic, the adopted irresistible twin brother that no one knew about? I missed this episode. Sadly, I believe writing in this asinine storyline has actually hurt the show. This is "Ghost Whisperer," it's the lighter side of "ER." Well... at least it WAS... I liked Denny's character. This drawn-out succubus crap is annoying...
