What Happened and What's Next

So far the last three seasons of Grey's Anatomy have been a success. And I think one of the main reasons is Grey's Anatomy relates to a lot of people's reality. You have each of the character types, either at work or in your social environment. There is the hunk, leader, shy one, romantic, etc. but in real life, as well as the show, those roles will be switched from time to time.

Cast:

The characters from Grey's Anatomy all have their own personal histories and personalities as well as the rest of us.

Meredith Grey is a woman who is twisted in her own sort of way. She tries really hard to help when she can, but never really knows what to say or when to stop. Meredith also has a lot of demons from her past that are always haunting her present, causing her to have major commitment issues.

Derek "Mcdreamy" Shepard is the hottie of the hospital, hence the name "Mcdreamy." He has confidence, but is not as arrogant as most. He is very good looking and smart. But despite is overall togetherness, he is a total mess inside and has a hard time making decisions.

Christina Yang is the most competitive of all the interns. She thrives for greatness, but lets her obsession with winning get in the way of her friendships. But deep down she is caring and has the need to please others.

Isobel "Izzie" Stevens is by far the most emotional of all. She has made mistakes of getting to involved with her patients and has paid the ultimate price. She comes off has helpless sometimes, but she also has an edge about her that says, "I made it here on my own, I don't need any favors."

George O'Mally is a shy yet very caring man. He has good family values and believes that the truth, in medicine, is the way to go. His morals are outstanding, and he works hard to keep his friends glued together.

Alex "Evil Spawn" Karev comes off as a slimy snake that will eat you alive, but inside he is a loving person. He too has the belief that the truth is the best way. He also tries way to hard to impress people, but comes off as rude and mean.

Preston Burk is a arrogant snotty man who believes he is the best of the best, and in some cases this may be true. But he has shown in the face of defeat, he can still hold his head up. He has also shown that he is a spiritual man who believes in a greater power in life.

Miranda "Nazi" Baily is the mother bird. She has to teach, guide, and protect her flock of interns. She has a stern way of showing love, and feels that it is her duty to make sure the interns are all in line.

Richard "Chief" Webber is the chief of surgery, who spends 24/7 at is hospital. He lets his career and his devotion to his patients get in the way of his life. He is the seeing eye of the hospital and he has to know that it is running smoothly.

Addison Montgomery is the beautiful neonatal surgeon with an enormous heart. In the event of her divorce she shows impeccable class and genuine sorrow. She doesn't judge and does her best to teach the interns a thing or two.

Mark "Mcsteamy" Sloan is the sleazy male gigolo who uses woman to cover the pitiful life he has made for himself. He is very good at his job but is not really willing to teach his skills, rather he uses the interns as lackeys.

Review:

The third season of Grey's Anatomy has been, by far the most drama filled of all. What with Derek leaving Addison, to George getting married, and Meredith all drugged up. Like I said drama, drama, drama.

The third season kicked of with the whole Meredith-Derek fiasco all over again. Are they on again or off again? Who knew at that point. But the producers did a fine job of spacing it out to perfect timing. They, of course, get back together, after their night at the prom. But when Derek goes to break it off with Addison, who does he find in her room? You got it, Mark Sloan, who has decided to take a job at Seattle Grace in order to win Addison back.

And in another turn of events, we see Izzie going through the hardest struggle in history, the death of Denny. My opinion is they should have kept him on, but this way is much more intriguing. These turn of events lead you to wonder whether or not Izzie will return to being an intern at Seattle Grace. And throughout her struggle she learns more and more about life, Denny, and herself. Not to mention she received an $8.7 million check from Denny.

But in the end she realizes Seattle Grace is where she wants to be, and she returns. But little did she know her probationary period would be hell. After debating whether or not to cash the check, she does so and donates a portion to a patient. Then the rest of it went into the project Bailey has come up with. The Denny Duquette Memorial Clinic was a way for Izzie to remember him, and Bailey to have something more.

Burk has to deal with the recovery of his surgery after being shot, and Christina does very little to help the situation. She forces Burk to exercise and blatantly ignores the fact that he isn't ready to go back to work, and talks him into it. And as she realizes what she has done she decides to cover for Burk, and do most of his surgeries to avoid him getting caught. But the stress of it all catches up with them and is threatening to ruin their relationship. And the job as chief was handed to Burk, but quickly taken away as their secret got out. This mistake almost cost them both their jobs and friends.

George and Callie go though a whirlwind in this season. They broke up after Callie realizes George just cant leave Izzie for more than a minute at a time. Then Callie makes the mistake of sleeping with Sloan, and George finds out. And it's not until George's father is diagnosed with cancer that they slowly repair what was lost. But a sad ending for the group approaches when George's father passes away. Which leads George to the impulsive wedding in Vegas to callie, and at the Same time Burk and Christina get engaged.

Then the tragic ferry accident happens, and changes each of the characters in one way or another. Karev finds himself fighting as hard as he can to save a pregnant woman's life, only to discover she is amnesic. This then leads Karev to go on a endless search for her family, meanwhile being in charge of reporting the fatalities to the families.

And Izzie has to perform brain surgery on a man who is trapped underneath a car, ultimately leading to her removal of the probationary period. George is also on a hunt for a child, who is missing. But George makes the mistake of telling the mother he is there and alive, without knowing the truth. After relentless looking he finally finds the boy in the care of his wife, Callie.

And then their is Meredith who decides to contemplate the thought of suicide. But when she has an out of body experience, with Denny and a few others from the past, she realizes she doesn't want to die. But the cost of her living paid the price of her mother's life, and Ellis Grey dies. An event that has proven to affect more than one of the characters on the show.

Richard decides to retire, for the sake of his marriage, which leads to the rat race for chief. A race that shows that brown nosing and manipulation is not beneath the contestants. But the end of the race looks dooming for Addison, Derek, Mark, Burk as Richard brings a new man in the running. And not only is this man the best cardio surgeons in the USA, he's Christina's ex. And lets just say he was there more for her than the job, and when he sees she is happily engaged he bows out and leaves.

As the season comes to an end things you thought would happen, didn't. And things you didn't see coming, came.

George and Callie are doing their best to make this marriage work, which seems futile after George sleeps with Izzie. This makes Izzie realize she is in love with George, and he decides to avoid her. But fails when her daughter shows up needing bone marrow, he does the right thing and stays by her side. Then in an effort to start over he decides to leave Seattle Grace. But Izzie decides to tell George she has no feelings for him, so that he will stay. But turns around and tells him the truth and waits for him to respond. Meanwhile, George has failed his exams and is left with a decision to make. Leave the program or start over.

And Meredith and Derek have been rocky since the drowning incident, and Derek question their relationship. Meredith does a good job of being their for her friends and pushing Derek away. It isn't until, Susan, Meredith step mother dies that Derek sees this. He wants to be there for her but she wont let him. Not to mention the fact her father slaps her and blames her for everything, and their attempt to repair the relationship goes down the drain. So Derek asks Meredith to put him out of his misery and leave him, after having a revelation that flirting with another woman was the highlight of his week.

Callie and Bailey are in the race for chief resident, but Callie turns out to be Richard's pick. And Richard chooses Derek for the job as chief of surgery, but to his surprise Derek turns the job down. Telling the chief to try to do it another time. Which doesn't help matters that day, when he finds is wife Adele, whom he has separated with, in the hospital. She is pregnant, and has a miscarriage. Despite his believing it is another man's baby, he stays by her side only to find out it was his all along.

The big day has finally arrived for Christina and Burk, after a grueling preparation. Christina is in the dress at the chapel when she freaks out after losing her vows. This is stalling the wedding and causes Burk to realize this is not right. He doesn't believe she is doing this because she wants to and calls off the wedding. When Christina gets home she finds that Burk has left, taking his prized possessions with him. And she seems relieved as Meredith helps her out of her dress.

Predictions of the future:

It has been reported that the spin off was picked up and is now, " Private Practice", and will air next season. But does this mean a permanent departure for Addison from Grey's Anatomy? I think it will have a lot to do with the success of the spin off.

What is going to happen to George and Burk? Part of me believes that there is a possibility of one of them leaving the show due to the whole 'Gay Slur' incident. But as for whether they are permanently gone or not has not been reported, so I believe it is just part of the show.

"Hi, I am Lexi, Lexi Grey." You heard it, yes Meredith's half sister has arrived and she is a new intern at Seattle Grace. And may this be history repeating itself? Derek met Meredith at the same bar on the night before her internship started, and then 2 years later her sister. Seems like deja vu to me.

Well this season has been a riot and you will just have to watch the next season to figure out what is really going to happen. I have a feeling it is only going to keep getting better.
