Grey's Anatomy Season 4: Predictions, Speculations, and Down Right Gossip!!

Fall TV Preview

Last May, the third season of Grey's Anatomy ended with several cliffhangers. Burke left Cristina at the altar; McDreamy met Meredith's sister at Joe's bar; Jane Doe finally left Seattle Grace with her new face, her new baby, and Alex's heart; and George failed his intern exams. Not to mention, the tension reached its peak in the Izzy-George-Callie love triangle. All of these events have caused much speculation among the McFans as to what will happen on the season premiere set to air on ABC on Thursday September 27th at 9/8c. That is why I am offering my best predictions as to what the newest season will bring.

Now to begin with, we all know that Isaiah Washington who played Preston Burke has been fired as a result of making some derogatory comments to fellow cast member T.R. Knight (George). This means, of course, that the Cristina/Burke storyline will have to be tied up someway. I think Burke's character will go off to find himself and just never return. Perhaps he will travel back to Alabama, where his mother lives, and join a jazz band. Or he will travel to Africa and work with Doctors Without Borders. The bottom line is, Burke is gone, and I think it will be a quick goodbye. Cristina will quickly move on, with her new duties as a resident. I have a feeling she will find a new love interest quickly, perhaps one of the new interns or the new doctor who takes Burke's place.

In addition to Isaiah Washington's departure, Kate Walsh (Addison Montgomery) will be leaving for her spin-off, Private Practice. A show which I, personally, refuse to watch, after seeing the sneak peek last season. It looks boring as can be, so I hope it will flop and bring Addison back to Grey's. Anyway, with the departure of both Burke and Addison, at least temporarily, I predict that the new interns will start to take active parts in the show. I'm not sure how this will go, since all the viewers have already made connections with the original cast. It's like if a seventh member was added to Friends midway through its run. I am not sure what contributions the new interns will bring to the show. Fans will either like them or hate them.

I really hope that Ava/Rebecca/Jane Doe returns this season. She NEEDS to come back and be with Alex. But I speculate that she may be just like the mute blond from the ferry fire, and end up being an afterthought.

If McDreamy & McSister do have a relationship, I bet it will be short-lived. Lexie will add some drama to MerDer, but I think she will make them both realize that they are in love. If there is one couple that needs to stay together for the long haul, it is Derek & Meredith. Since Meredith is the main character, she deserves her happy ending. I think after 4 years it is time for them to stop with their petty arguments.

Last but not least is the storyline I am most excited about-the Callie/Izzy/George fiasco. I am in the minority, and have been a fan of Callie and George from day one. Maybe because they remind me of my own relationship with my boyfriend-Callie and George are both nerdy. They're not the "pretty" people like Izzy and Alex. For some reason, their quirkiness fit. Then the supermodel gets in and ruins everything. I'm torn between what I want to happen here. On one hand, I think Callie deserves more than lying, cheating George, but on the other hand, every time I have to see Izzy and George in the same room I about vomit. They were best friends and having a romantic relationship is just way too weird to watch. But the bottom line is, Callie will be finding out soon that her husband cheated. Her character is far too smart to not sense what is going on. What happened with Callie's dad, Hector Elizondo, though? I hope he returns.

My brilliant idea of how Callie should find out is this:

Since Callie's family was supposed to come and help her plan her wedding, Callie's sister should come to Seattle Grace one day. Since it has been assumed several times that George does not know Callie's sister, this idea will work greatly. Callie's sister will be on the elevator, overhearing George and Izzy talking about what to make of their love affair. The sister will have to debate whether or not to tell Callie. Another twist could be that Callie's best friend or even her sister or brother could be a new intern! George may feel compiled to confide in him or her, and accidentally spill the beans!

Here's to hoping that the fourth season of Grey's starts off with a bang. It has to, or else all the viewers will be switching over to Private Practice! I really hope the storyline speeds up again this year. I will be terribly disappointed and irritated if they don't wrap up last year's shenanigans quickly. Last year was so drawn out, although I understand it had to since Knight, Walsh, and Washington's contracts were up in air. I'm hoping this year brings some interesting storylines! Check back because as soon as the Grey's Anatomy season premiere ends, I will be posting a follow-up/review right here on Associated Content!
