Grey's Anatomy Season Premiere is a Hit

Fall T.V. Grey's Anatomy Season Premiere Review

How will the absence of Addison Montgomery and Preston Burke effect this season of Grey's Anatomy? It seems that the show will fair well even without them.

Addison Montgomery has moved on to a "Private Practice" and Preston Burke turned in his resignation after his leaving Christina Yang at the church. He went home and took the things that were most important to him. Christina and Meredith went on what was supposed to be the couples honeymoon together.

Kali O'Malley is now the chief and no one seems to respect her enough to listen. Her husband George is repeating his intern year and the newest residents refuse to listen to her. George seems to be fighting his feelings for Izzy. At the end of the episode this is apparent when he shows up at her door to tell her he loves her. So what will happen with his marriage? Is he going to leave his wife or will this lend to one more adulteress story line?

George befriended Lexi Grey, Meredith's half sister, accidentally while he was feeling sorry for himself. Lexi reminded him that not everything turns out how we plan. In the last few months she lost her mother, found out she had a sister and her father began drinking so much he forgot she existed.

Lexi is desperate to talk to Meredith. Meredith ignores her at every turn. Will the sisters form a relationship or merely work at the same hospital and manage not to speak for the entire season?

Izzy showed just how compassionate and resourceful she can be when she managed to save a deer that had been hit by a car and caused a major wreck. A little boy begged her to help the injured animal and she was so touched by the child and the virtually helpless animal that she began to research its anatomy to find out how to help. A miracle occurred she managed to revive the animal and it was taken off by animal rescue.

Alex is still Alex. He just has a more human side than he started with. He is currently missing a patient that he seems to have fell in love with.

Dr. Miranda Bailey is holding a grudge. She was not chosen to be the new Chief of Surgery and she knows she would have been excellent. The residents still turn to her and run when she calls.

The respect they feel for Dr. Bailey is evident when each of them repeats the same speech she gave them on their first day as interns. Each has tried to model themselves after her, some more successfully than others.

Overall the season premiere was a hit. It gave action and suspense to a degree. There were a few oddities thrown in to keep us on our toes and provide a laugh. While a patient eating a pair of scissors and cotton balls was a serious problem it also had a humorous side.

I think that the premiere was incredible and the fact that all of our beloved interns are back is a great sign. Now to find out what the rest of the season holds in store for us. Who will end up with who from this point on is anybodies guess.
