Check Out These Grilling Styles From Around the World

When the weather is warm and the urge hits, many of us head for the grill to satisfy our cooking needs. However, there is more than one way to grill up that meat and much of the world has been doing it their way for centuries. Therefore, if you are looking to step it up a notch and explore your options, take a look at these great grilling styles from around the world.

Argentina Style Grilling
In Argentina, they like to charcoal grill and use chimichurri sauce. The chimichurri sauce is made up of a savory combination of chopped parsley, minced garlic, olive oil, white or red vinegar and crushed red pepper flakes. That sauce gives the Argentina barbecue a unique taste.

India Style Grilling
In India before grilling, they marinate their chicken, lamb, seafood, and even cheese in a combination of yogurt and spices. These spices can include garlic, ginger, cumin, and cayenne pepper. When they are finished marinating, the India style of grilling is to use a tandoor, which is an upright barbeque pit. Don't worry if you do not have one, your grill will work just fine.

Kansas City Style Grilling
When grilling as they do in Kansas City, the meat is first rubbed with a combination of salt, pepper, paprika and brown sugar. After the rub, they then combine that with a sweet and smoky sauce and leave it to grill slow and tender.

Memphis Style Grilling
You need to coat your meat the down-home style way with a spice crust. Then take the meat and either smoke it or grill it. In Memphis, they serve their meat with a tomato-based sauce, which is usually made of ketchup, red wine vinegar, and brown sugar. Always top off the meat with a side portion of mustard slaw.

Indonesia Style Grilling
Marinating your chicken, beef, lamb or seafood kebabs is in important way to get the taste of the Far East. That marinate should include garlic, ginger, turmeric, lemongrass and any other Asian spices you find. Grill to your liking and serve with an Indonesian peanut sauce.

Pacific Northwest Grilling
Those who utilize the Pacific Northwest grilling or smoking techniques will need to use alder chips. The alder chips give a slightly sweet and smoky flavor to the Pacific Northwest salmon as well as vegetables and chicken. Before grilling, marinate the fish in lemon and dill or use a soy and ginger sauce.
