First you must make sure your grill is clean and your vegetables are nice and clean too. A fresh layer of aluminum foil prevents any unwanted flavors.
Second, cut up your peppers and onions just how you want to eat them. I slice mine into long and medium width slices. I also prefer Green Peppers and Vadalia Onions, but you can chose any kind you like.
Turn the grill between low and medium, that way you don't take a chance of burning anything. Take a basting brush and brush on vegetable oil or any oil you prefer onto the aluminun foil.
Spread the vegetables evenly on the grill, and lightly shake salt and or pepper on the top. As the peppers and onions cook, they will make their own juices, so use as oil. Flip your vegetables every couple of minutes to make sure they are grilling through. This may take 20 to 30 minutes for them to soften up, that;s when you want to turn the grill up between medium and high. Grill for about 3 minutes on each side using tongs, to make a crisp taste.
Once they are finished grilling, set aside in an disposable aluminum pan and cover with aluminum to keep the heat and flavor in.
Grill your DiRusso's Italian Sausage to your liking. Open up your peppers and onions and scoop them all over your sausage, whether it's on a bun, with spaghetti, or as a main dish. No sausage can ever be right without these savory peppers and onions.
