Young's Food Town offers a deli, bakery, bank and pharmacy. This is a medium sized grocery store, and unfortunately as people have no alternative to shopping at Young's, everything is over priced. The selection of goods is mainly an off brand label called Our Family. Basically the food for sale at Young's is all-generic, and priced excruciatingly high. You cannot purchase a bag of apples at Young's; you must buy them individually. This would not be bad, except Brad Young charges an outrageous price of $1.20 per apple!
Young's Food Town makes a fortune off of marking up groceries to a sickening amount. Brad Young knows he can get away with this, as the nearest competitor is over twenty miles away from his grocery store. The employees at Young's Food Town are strange, as most Laurelvillian are. It is painfully obvious that new people rarely ever move in to Laurelville, or stop in as visitors.
Brad Young also owns the villages only gas station, Dollar Discount and the Laundry mat among other things. This man is unlikable; he is arrogant, rude and unpleasant all together. Brad Young or the nearby Sawmill employs most residents of Laurelville.
Laurelville is home to the Old Time Fireman's Festival every July; this is the activity that attracts visitors to Laurelville. There is basically no crime to speak of in Laurelville Ohio. The village has a small police department to keep Brad Young safe.
While shopping at Young's Food Town you can purchase nearly anything required to sustain life, but bring your credit card, as you will pay an arm and a leg for anything you need. This is no exaggeration, I went to Young's Food Town to purchase ice cream over the summer, and for a "store brand" generic ice cream I paid the ridiculous sum of five dollars and some odd cents. However if you are only in need of a few items, with the outrageous gas prices it makes sense to just buy what you need at Young's Food Town. If you have a list of items, you would be better off to drive into Circleville or Logan and visit Wal-Mart.

Post a CommentI like youngs food town myself. Brad orders anything he doesn't have in stock. The prices are pretty reasonable concidering that you have idiots who steal from there and they have adark haired girl who looks as if she isn't all american working for them who lets men steal various items such as big bags of dog food, cigarrettes, or dont charge for all of their items. I have seen her do it number of times and I could tell you the guys name 1 of the guys is very well known in in food townby all the people who work there. And it makes me mad because the prices are getting passed on to honest people who work hard for their money.
Most small town grocery stores are expensive, and how can you say people from laurelville are "strange"? what is "strange" exactly, because I have lived in many small towns, just like Laurelville, and almost everyone acts the same way. Just your average, small town people trying to get by. And you are in no authority to label people, you are probably the strange one here.
Johanna, wow sounds like you have issues with people who have managed to become successful. I agree the prices may be a little high on some products, but thats the price you pay for the convenience of local shopping. And you are wrong, I recently purchased a whole bag of apples at Youngs grocery and I might add at a very low price. As for Brad Young, I used to think the same thing, but it turns out that I was wrong. Brad is indeed a very nice guy and will help out his community and its members. You just need to get to know him before you make that type of call. As for Laureville people being strange, who are you to judge what is normal! God created us all different. Maybe you are the one who is weird. Consider that. WE are all weird in our own way, so dont label these residents of this town according to your narrow views.
your stupid -
Yup, prices are high as in most small town grocery stores. Don't know much about the Youngs, but what I've found is that most small towns pretty much reflect back whatever it is you are projecting. I personally like Laurelville and have always had relatively pleasant experiences in the gas station, stores, etc. and have shopped there sporadically for nearly tree decades.
Really Johanna? Your little article reads like someone who got up on the wrong side of bed. It would be best if you kept your caustic views to yourself. Go back to bed.
well ive lived in laurelville for 35 years, and i wouldn't live anywhere else.if we didn't have the youngs,we would have to travel that 20 miles to shop for our grocerys and prescriptions.i suggest if you dont like shopping here, stay in your own town and shop or better still drive 20 miles to where you would like to shop.
You don't Brad or the Young family at all! They are all very nice people. And isn't the American dream to be successful! Sorry you feel that way but until you really know these people don't pass judgements!! Judgements are God's duty not ours!! Not related but a long time Laurelvillian!!!
Don't dog the store, but I agree about Brad...too funny
Wow, sounds like a LOT of the small towns I've run across.
