Season
The first thing to consider is the season and the time of day of your wedding. A morning wedding with a brunch is much less formal than a late afternoon wedding with a formal sit down dinner. The basics of every tuxedo include a jacket, pants, shirt, a tie, and a cummerbund or vest. Styles vary so it highly recommended that you look through some bridal magazines with your bride to select the most flattering styles for your body. In addition, she'll think you much sexier if she gets a say in the tuxedo you choose.
Take Time to Choose Styles
Make sure you go into the tuxedo rental place around four months prior to your wedding. If the bride wants matching cummerbunds for the groomsmen then bring in a swatch of the bridesmaids' dresses with you. Don't try to guess!
As you're trying on tuxedos, try to have a sales clerk that is close to your own age to help you, because you're going to get advice (whether you want it or not) on the latest styles, the best cut, and even about what colors to choose. The bottom line is that if you've talked to your bride you should already have a photo or an idea of how she envisions you at the alter. If you live up to her fantasy then the night will be magical in every way.
Don't get caught up with the "expert" advice you'll receive at the store. The truth is that it's all based on trends and fads and it doesn't reflect on you or your body's build. Remember, you won't feel sexy if you're not comfortable with what you're wearing.
Look for Comfort
One aspect of tuxedo that pertains directly to comfort is the tuxedo fabric. Spring and summer weddings need a lightweight material that will not wrinkle as you move. Nothing is less sexy than a wrinkled tuxedo.
In the fall or winter, you need a heavier fabric that will keep you warm, tweed fabrics tend to be more flattering on the body and will keep you warm but not overheated.
A proper fitting and alternations for yourself and all members in your wedding party is essential once the tuxedos are chosen. A tuxedo that does not fit properly always looks sloppy and unkempt. To avoid an improper fit bring along a fashion conscious female relative or friend to oversee the fittings.
A Final Word
Finally, your personality should be reflected in the tuxedo you choose. Use accessories, such as belts, shoes, socks, jewelry, or suspenders to reflect your personality. Don't over do it with patterns or color unless your bride is agreeable. You want to make this day as happy for her as possible, by looking attractive for her on this big day. She'll always remember just how sexy you were on the day you married.
