Arts and Crafts Activities - Groundhog Day Coloring Pages and Worksheets
You will need: A printer, paper, and choice of: crayons, markers, or colored pencils.

This is one of the easiest Groundhog Day activities that one can provide for their children. It does not matter if your child is artistically inclined or not, this article here highlights ten excellent pages for your child to color, and is sure to make them happy.

Coloring pages make great Groundhog Day activities because they will help grow your child's mind. It's important to teach your children the importance of not always staying inside the line. Want to make your child think critically and use their imagination? Limit the number of colors they have to use.

Arts and Crafts Activities- Make a Groundhog Day "Pop-up" Groundhog Puppet
You will need: Styrofoam or paper cups, popsicle sticks, scissors, glue, paper bags (or brown construction paper), and markers.

Making a Groundhog Day "Pop-up" groundhog puppet is an easy Groundhog Day arts and crafts activity that can be done with common household items. Idealistically one would make a Groundhog Day Pop-up" groundhog puppet next to their child. Lead, and have your kid follow with their own.

First, take the paper bag and turn it inside out so that there are no colors or words displayed. Draw an oval that is small enough to fit inside the cup on the paper bag. Using the scissors, now carefully cut the oval out, following the line you drew. You should end up with two ovals. Set them aside. Draw a small circle and do the same thing.

Next, using the popsicle stick, glue, and ovals, adhere one of the ovals to one half of the popsicle stick so that it is pointed up. On the other side of the popsicle stick, use the other oval so that the popsicle stick cannot be seen from front or back. Attach the circles to the end of the ovals in the same manner.

Now use the markers to color the cup so that it looks like grass or other terrain. Draw a face on the groundhog (circle).

Take the scissor, and make a hole in the bottom of the cup that will allow the popsicle stick to slide in and out.
Play!

Arts and Crafts Activities - Cooking Groundhog Day Cupcakes
You will need: Cupcake mix, chocolate frosting, chocolate wafers, small marshmallows, and some M&M's.
Groundhog Day Cupcakes is another cheap arts and crafts groundhog day activity for the kitchen.

First, make cupcakes with your child (a fun activity all by its own!), using either cupcake mix from a box or from scratch. After the cupcakes have cooled, more fun can begin!

First, Slather plenty of chocolate frosting over the top of each of the cupcakes.

Next, staring straight down at the cupcake, use the chocolate wafers to stick on as ears to the top left and right of the cupcake. Put the M&M's in the middle for eyes, and use the small marshmallows at the bottom of the cupcake to represent its teeth.

Enjoy!
