On the calendar for January are three events. The first event is a getting to know you event, where the parents will get together and introduce themselves and their children to everyone in the group. Later in January is a Material Swap so that the parents can swap items they no longer use, for items they need. At the end of the month is a virtual event to discuss the book of the month. On the calendar also are things to do that week for preschoolers, elementary students, jr. high students and high school students.
Pamala hopes to see the group grow and become a resource for homeschooling parents in the area. The group is free to everyone. There are no monthly or yearly fees.
Here is a paragraph from the website which explains the group in more detail:
Meeting other local families taking responsibility for educating their children by using resources in the home and community. Share tips, discuss problems, and pool ideas.
All Homeschooling families are welcome! We want to provide support for all types of schooling. Please join us here and discuss education philosophies, curriculum's, trials and errors, accomplishments and other life issues and triumphs.
In addition to getting support we would like this group to work as a co-op, in that should you not be so great in one area of teaching, perhaps you can find someone in the group who is great in that area and they'll help you and in return you'll help them with areas they're not as good in!
Upon joining you'll be asked to upload a photo to your profile. This is just so we know who you are. It can be a photo of yourself, or your children.
Benefits to joining:
1. Support from other parents just like you!
2. Education ideas and curriculum ideas!
3. Educational field trips!
4. Socialization for your children as well as for yourself!
5. Co-Op (get help in subjects you need help in)!
