Group Power Classes: Lose Weight and Look Great Fast

Sarah Barr
Whether you are just starting off on the path to fitness, or you've been at it for awhile, it's hard to know what to do to get results quickly. There are thousands of exercises and classes to take so choosing the right one can be difficult. Group Power may be the answer to those of you wondering where to go with your fitness program.

Group Power is a high intensity cardio class with weight training. It moves at a fast pace to raise your heart rate, but adds strength training to target all muscle groups. The classes are designed to improve your all over fitness level regardless of what kind of shape you are in. There are different weight levels depending on your personal strength and when the class seems to be getting easier, you simply up your weights. If you are a beginner that is worried about using weights, you can even start out by taking the class without using the weights and build up to it. It is a great way to learn about using weights correctly and will keep you from injuring yourself by using weights the wrong way.

The class is usually about one hour long and is set to music to keep you moving. Most classes encourage group members to talk with one another and keep each other going. It begins to feel like a real team atmosphere and many people return to find the same class members again and again. Check with your gym, often these classes are really popular so you must reserve your spot ahead of time. It is not recommended that you take the class more than three times per week, and for beginners two is enough.

You will see results very quickly if you take this class on a regular basis and combine it with cardio on the off days. If you are training for a marathon or some other endurance event this class is the perfect way to build endurance. Paired with a healthy diet you should feel better within a week or two of taking the class and start to see a difference in the appearance of your body within a month.

Not all gyms offer Group Power classes, but many do. Check with your local gyms to find where classes are being held. For more information about Group Power go to http://www.quantumfitness.ca/programs/power.asp
