Spring Getaway. Right about the time this winter holiday hits, most people can't stand the idea of more snow and more time cooped up indoors. Arrange for a short weekend trip for the family to enjoy during the first weeks of Spring. Ideally this trip should be to a location that features pretty scenery and plenty of outdoor activity. Not only will your spouse and children be thrilled with the trip, they will have something to look forward to during the last days of winter.
Video Game System. The last weeks of the winter season are often the most difficult to get through. Countless movies have been watched, books have been read and indoor projects have been completed. Invest in an upgraded video game system and several games to give to your family for Valentine's Day. This new entertainment device will perk everyone up and offer them a fresh way to keep the hours spent indoors fun and interesting.
Family Scrapbook. This holiday is the perfect time to finally gather all those loose family photographs laying around. Arrange them in a pretty scrapbook, designating pages for each family member and several for group shots. Include photos from vacations, holidays and important milestones reached through the years. Your family will love spending
time together poring over the photographs and reliving moments from the past.
Upgraded Cell Phones. Is your cell phone plan coming up for renewal? Take the opportunity of the holiday to purchase brand new phones for the family. Most people look forward to upgrading their phones and delight in the newest features. The teenagers in your home will especially appreciate this unexpected but thoughtful gift.
Favorite Week of Dinners. It can be challenging to serve dinners that everyone enjoys and looks forward to. The larger the family, the more challenging it becomes. Designate the week of Valentine's Day as the one where you pledge to cook every family member's favorite meal. Start with your spouse and move down the line until each person has had their turn. This gift is not fancy or extravagant, but it is definitely one that comes from the heart.
Weekend Road Trip. Budget been a little tight lately? Are you still trying to pay off Christmas bills and have eliminated all the extras? If you have spent the last weeks watching every penny, relax the finances just a little on the holiday weekend. Load everyone in the car and visit a nearby museum, playhouse or concert hall. Stop for lunch at a fast food place or diner on the way home. This little outing will renew the family's spirits and create a cherished memory.
