Growing Old in Hollywood

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Well, at least not in Hollywood. Growing old in Hollywood is the worst thing that can ever happen to an actress. They get less film roles or they get roles playing a mother or a grandmother. They play second fiddle to younger actresses. Hollywood is cruel to older women because they are basically telling them they are not good enough to star in blockbuster movies.

Growing old is natural. It's a beautiful thing and not everybody sees it that way. Some actresses fear of growing old and developing wrinkles. They try to protect their youth with plastic surgery and botox. Sometimes going under the knife can have disastrous consequences. Many celebrities who had work done on their face can sometimes go unrecognizable like Jennifer Grey, Yasmine Bleeth, and Rose McGowan. While other celebrities who have had too much plastic surgery can look cartoonish like Joan Collins, Donatella Versace, Melanie Griffith, and Jocelyn Wildenstein. The pressure of staying young and gorgeous can get to anybody, especially celebrities who are always in the spotlight. But plastic surgery is not always the answer.

The untold rule in Hollywood is to lie at any means possible. Some celebrities lie about their age, weight, birth date, and etc. They lie because they don't want anybody to know how old they really are. Celebrities are known to take a couple of years or even a decade or two off their real age. For example Joan Collins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Geri Halliwell, and Susan Lucci have lied about their true ages. The latest celebrity to lie about her age is the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, Nicole Scherzinger. She reportedly said she was 28. She is really 30 years old.

Older celebrities are telling Hollywood that they are here to stay, even though they are not as youthful as their younger counterparts. Julie Benz is a prime example. Her acting career soar with her roles on the Showtime hit show Dexter, Saw V, Rambo, and Punisher: War Zone. She is 36 years old and has been in Hollywood for several years. She is getting the best roles in her career as she gets older. Older woman are just as sexy and beautiful as their younger counterparts. Hollywood needs to awake up and realize that.
