He's past that age, he's much too old
*
My almost-adult reached the legal limit
The world has changed, now that he is in it
*
Decisions, choices, filled full his head
Unsure, unsteady, he ceiling stares from his bed
*
Sensitive eyes blink back brimming tears
Remembering, fondly, his childhood years
*
After today, that sweet door closes tight
He will walk the walk, he will see the light
*
A high school graduate, he will be
My tender baby, lost, to time's reality
*
Dapper, handsome, I know he will shine
My breaking heart will beat in pure pride
*
New to this, we both may stumble
Into pure chaos, we might well tumble
*
His path diverts and goes its own way
I, his rock, his Mother, I have to stay
His travels may take him to the far away
*
Inside my soul, I know, he'll return
So many lessons he is in need to learn
Tons of bridges he's yet to burn
*
Where ever he travels, from this night on
He knows where home is, once he is gone
*
He'll make me proud, I can feel it
He'll be that man inside him, I've always seen it
*
Every second of every minute, I have loved him
From his start and until my finish, I will love him
*
My first miracle, my special spark
He will leave me soon, to make his mark
*
Leaving his dusty fingerprints, all over my heart...
