In the beginning: Creation!

Imagine if you will

Gases floating free,

Coalescing throughout time

To form a murky sea.

A sea of fundamentals,

A sea of kindred birth;

A sea through further mixing

Will form a place called Earth.

Molecules are fusing

From atoms here and there;

These molecules are joining

To form a living lair.

A lair of vast proportions

Has formed a living sea;

Life has begun a journey

Whose end it may not see.

Now let us leap to present:

Man's the master race;

Blessed by some intelligence,

He's set about to trace:

From where has life become?

Where must it now go?

These and other questions

The answers may not show.

But the present is the present,

Evolution is the rule.

The past seems very crude,

The future hard and cruel.

Life must fight the current

In order to survive;

The road ahead is rough,

But man is here to strive.
