Grumpy Old Men: "Pants on the Ground" or "Back Pockets on the Floor?"

Group Says Larry Platt Stole Idea for His Song

Pants on the Ground.
Pants on the Ground.
Looking like a fool with your pants on the ground.

Yes. You've sung the song. America has been singing this song for weeks now. It's ringing in my ears everytime I see a guy with his pants hanging low. For those who have not crawled from under their rock yet for food-- and for those who have not disconnected from World of Warcraft enough to catch up on current events, Larry Platt, a Civil Rights Veteran went on American Idol and sung this song, "Pants On The Ground", talking about how young men are looking stupid with the baggy pants(in a nutshell). After being played off by American Idol Judges and informed he was too old to be on the show, the song went viral. The video has been everywhere. Larry's been "The View" and has had the Associated Press even do a piece on him and his Civil Rights roots.

Even Bret Favre was singing it. Yes. As painful as it was he did do a rendition of the song after the Vikings cremated the Cowboys. Here's a link to it:

And then we see the mystic of the song's reason--To bring awareness to an unflattering fad that has captivated a young generation for years.

But now the question of authencity and plagarism has surfaced in the headlines about this "song".

People, what I'm about to report I cannot make up. According to reports, the 62-year old is being challenged by two other SENIORS.

Yes. Two other senior citizens, known as "The Green Brothers", claimed they made a song similiar to Larry's song called "Back Pockets On The Floor" and are saying he stole their idea. In their song, they rap, "It's time to say no to the gangs to the drugs to the dress code/It's time to put your cap on right and get your pockets off the floor/Now enough is enough when it comes to a fad/ See some young brothas that became young dads/ What kind of message are you sending?/ What kind of hand are you lending?"

Now after hearing both versions I have to say both are sending the same positive message. I think these guys just want to let folks know that this isn't the first time someone has talked about this issue. I also think they want some of that "Larry Platt airtime" as well. They probably feel shunned. More than likely when they made their song they were probably laughed at. When Larry made his, we're laughing at the people he's talking about.

There's a big difference.

So in closing you decide.

"PANTS ON THE GROUND"

There have been some great hip-hop rap battles

Jay-Z vs. Nas

L.L. Cool J vs. Cannibus

KRS-One vs. Nelly

wil there be a Larry Platt vs. The Green Brothers?

Only time will tell.
