Grundig S450DLX Field Radio Information
HISTORY
Eton introduced the Grundig S450DLX "Field Radio" at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, according to a press release issued on January 4th. The release indicated that this model would be offered to the public in "early 2011". As of late March, the S450DLX is available for purchase from a small number of sources. Apparently some reviewers were able to obtain this radio during the previous year.
FEATURES
The Grundig S450DLX covers the entire shortwave band plus FM and AM, according to Universal Radio, which sells it for just under $100. Extra features include a nine-volt DC power jack, fifty station presets, line in/out connections, antenna jacks, a telescopic antenna, an alarm clock, and a lock button. It offers adjustments for sensitivity, tone (bass and treble), bandwidth, and RF gain.
MANUAL
Readers can download an 86-page S450DLX Owner's Manual from the Eton Corporation web site; see the last item in the Sources list at the end of this article. The PDF format manual is just over one megabyte in size. It provides detailed instructions, safety recommendations, shortwave listening tips, Grundig service/support contact details, and other information. The manual uses five different languages.
REVIEWS
The Grundig S450DLX "Field Radio" has received mixed reviews from listeners, so be sure to read at least a few of them before making a final decision to purchase it.
