Guide to American Eagle Jeans

How Does Each Cut Fit?

SE
American Eagle Outfitters has many different styles of jeans for the current back to school season. If you're not already familiar with the different cuts, choosing between them may be tough. Here's some help determining how each cut fits.

For women, the Boyfriend 77 jeans are popular. They feature a super low rise and wide leg. They have a roomy fit without looking baggy.

The Hipster jeans have a higher rise, although they are still low rise jeans. These have a boot leg opening (not as wide an opening as flare jeans). If you want a slightly higher rise than most American Eagle jeans, these are your best bet.

The Artist cut features a super low rise. They have a somewhat slim fit and a "skinny flare" leg opening.

The Straight 77 jeans also have a super low rise, and obviously have a straight leg fit. No flare or dramatic tapering.

The Skinny 77 jeans can be confused with the Straight 77's, but they are slightly different. The rise is the same, but the Skinny 77's have a very slim, straight fit.

The Blue Issue jeans come in two limited edition cuts. The Patch Pocket jean has rounded front patch pockets, while the Trouser jean features slit pockets. Both have a super low rise and a wide, straight leg. These fit similar to the old Boyfriend 77 cut (the Boyfriend fit was recently updated).

For women who really loved the Favorite jean but can't find it anywhere, don't stress. This cut is only available online. It has a classic rise, the highest of American Eagle women's jeans, and a flared leg.

The men have a lot of jeans to choose from at American Eagle, too. The Loose fit sits low on the waist, and has a loose, straight leg shape.

The Bootcut jeans also sit low on the waist. They have a boot leg opening and a relaxed fit.

The Low Rise Boot cut has an extra low rise, boot leg opening, and a fitted (slightly slim) fit.

The Low Rise Slim Boot jeans are exactly what they sound like: extra low rise, boot cut, and a slim fit.

Lastly, the Low Rise Slim Straight jeans will fit guys looking for an extra low rise, and a slim, straight fit.

You will probably still need to try on a few jeans when you get to American Eagle. However, knowing how each style is supposed to fit should point you in the right direction, saving you from trying on everything.
