Like Cedar Point, Geauga Lake tries to pick up some postseason business by giving the park a Halloween theme for autumn weekends. During the day, kids can enjoy the Great Pumpkin Patch and Candy Corral. The mood turns spookier at night, with rides like the Fright Zone and Big Top Terror.

HUDSON HAUNTED HOUSE
The most famous haunted house in the area is the Hudson Haunted House. Make sure your kids can handle a good scare, because these houses are intense.

HERITAGE FARMS

GREAT PUMPKIN EXPRESS

KIDS DAY OUT
The Ashtabula Arts Center will host a special day of crafts and activities for kids on Oct. 7. Children can decorate trick-or-treat bags and make candleholders. They can even make their own scary makeup. The day also includes games and scary stories.

MURDER MYSTERY

BOO AT THE (CLEVELAND) ZOO
This annual event draws thousands to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Costumed kids can enjoy treat bags, a hay maze, puppet shows and entertainers. A "Monster Mash" dance party is a new addition to this year's event.
