Fun Things to Do in Southwest Ohio

Located in Darke County (which sits on the border between Ohio and Indiana,) the city of Greenville, Ohio, might seem a bit of the beaten path. Despite this, this little gem of a city is home to a number of fantastic and interesting places to visit, making it well worth the trip, even if it is a bit out of the way.

Garst Museum

One of the premier attractions in Greenville, the Garst Museum is home to the largest collection of Annie Oakley memorabilia, along with a number of other artifacts and objects from various periods of United States history. The Garst Museum is divided into several sections and periods and features a number of interesting things to view, including a collection of photographs of early Greenville (including one of Theodore Roosevelt,) a painting of Native American Chief Tarhe, and a number of exhibits devoted to Lowell Thomas.

The Garst Museum is open from Thursday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, with decreasing rates for children and seniors.

The KitchenAid Experience

For those who have ever used a KitchenAid product, you know just how incredibly useful and well-made these objects are. If you had ever wondered where they were made, look no further than Greenville Ohio, which is home to the KitchenAid Experience Center, located in the downtown area. The Center houses the largest selection of KitchenAid products in the world, and also regularly offers a number of live cooking shows.

Thos who want to see the famous kitchen appliances made can also partake in the KitchenAid Stand Mixer Factory tour, which is typically led by production associates and brings you into contact with those who actually make this product. Tours typically last an hour, and typically occur Monday through Friday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Safety goggles will be issued, and closed-toe shows are required.

Clearly, the city of Greenville, Ohio is full of interesting and worthwhile places to visit, from the magic of kitchen appliances to the glory days of the Old West. Furthermore, for those who are even more adventurous, there are a number of other towns and cities located in Darke County, so be sure to fully immerse yourself in this unique area of Ohio. You'll be sure to find plenty of things to do to occupy an entire week. It's sure to be fun and interesting time.
