Guide to the Best Solid Perfumes for Women

Sophia S. Mark
Solid perfume is a great and versatile alternative to traditional forms of the same scent because it can be carried easily without creating a mess and because some formulas are made to last longer when worn. Made in many forms, the trend in solid perfume has moved to adding the scent to a piece of jewelry in a concealed compartment, giving you both your favorite perfume and an accessory.

Some of the pieces are worth it, and others are just a waste, even though the solid perfume may be good. As a buyer, you need to decide if you are comfortable paying for a smaller quantity while getting a piece of jewelry that you may or may not like. Some brands just sell the solid perfume in stick form, or even in pencils that travel well and really give you bang for your buck. The following are several of the best solid perfumes on the market and reviews of the jewelry form that some of them are contained in to help you choose the best option for yourself or to give.

Clinique Happy toGo, $30
A smart and convenient trio of Clinique scents in pencil form that is easy to pack and customizable. Happy is a popular scent, for obvious reasons once you get a whiff of it, and it translates very well into solid form. Happy to go is meant to be used in the way that you feel most comfortable with, letting you wear the fragrance with a citrus or flower base and everywhere in between. Because this is essentially three solid perfumes for the price of one, and because you get ten times more solid perfume in pencil form when compared to other packaging, Clinique's Happy is an incredible value.

Harajuku Lovers Fragrances Solid Perfume Compact, $18
Harajuku Lovers fragrances are not going anywhere soon, and the new solid compacts are sure to end up on the dressers of most young girls and teens. Surprisingly, they smell better than the traditional scents, slightly more subtle but not weak. There are a variety of characters and scents to choose from, closely mimicking the original line of scents.

Stella McCartney Perfume Necklace, $49
Modern and sophisticated, the Stella McCartney perfume necklace is a great piece for fans of the designer's signature scent because it can be worn like any other piece of jewelry that you would wear. Honestly, of all the jewelry pieces, this is the best option I have seen and one that women can wear regularly without it looking gaudy, out of place or like you are trying to hard to make it work. As for the scent, a signature rose that is perfect for any season.

Beyonce Heat Solid Perfume Ring, $35
Perfect for summer, the Beyonce Heat Solid Perfume Ring is true to the diva's style and features a large red faux gemstone. Because Heat is in ring form its contents are a lot smaller than solid and liquid perfumes in the same price range. Meant to be used as an accessory, the solid scent is composed of magnolia, honeysuckle and orchids that combine to make a very floral scent. More edgy and rocker than girly, Beyonce Heat is fun and a great new scent.

Victoria's Secret Dream Angels Heavenly Solid Perfume, $8
At one point, Heavenly solid perfume came in jewelry form, but now it is sold in simple stick form which is both convenient and a whole lot more affordable. Yes, rings and necklaces are cute and can accessorize some outfits well, but it isn't always necessary. Heavenly is a good choice for young girls, or those who like something something that is not overly flowery and has a little musk to it. Vanilla, sandalwood and peony are the main scents and you can really smell each because, like other solid perfumes, Heavenly performs well and is much more concentrated in solid form than liquid.

SJP NYC Perfume Cuff, $35
Great scent, not so great presentation. I would have really appreciated this scent in a different package because I will forever wonder how much of the cost was for the perfume and how much was for the cuff. Fruity and sweet is the only way to describe SJP NYC, rich with strawberry, vanilla and gardenias which makes for a really great scent. The solid perfume is stashed under a very large glass stone that sits in the center of a wide gold-tone cuff that reminds me of the dress up pieces that are created for young girls. In the end, the perfume is great and long lasting, but the cuff has got to go.

Marc Jacobs Daisy, $30
Marc Jacobs Daisy is popular with all types of women because it is floral, subtle but still packs a punch and still is very feminine without being girly. Now in a solid perfume, you can buy Daisy in a ring or necklace compact. Both are cute, but neither is really anything that you would wear on a daily basis, I attached mine to a keyring instead, that way I had it around when I needed it, and it added a little fun to whatever I attached it to.
