The popular Zynga Facebook game FarmVille keeps bringing new and exciting things for users to build and complete. The newest construction project keeping FarmVille players busy is a storage cellar. Designed to hold up to 500 items, the storage cellar is one of the most efficient ways to hold and keep all (or nearly all!) of your FarmVille decorations, items, and knick knacks. So how do you build a FarmVille storage cellar? It's as easy as taking a shovel and digging.

The Lowdown on the Farmville Storage Cellar

Once you reach Level 16 in FarmVille, you'll be able to place a storage cellar on your farm. Deciding to put a FarmVille storage cellar on your farm is a commitment. The moment you place a storage cellar on your farm, you can't sell it or remove it! You are, however, able to relocate it. You won't be able to store other storage facilities (like barns) in the storage cellar, but you can store other items (like fences, lawn mowers, etc.) in the storage cellar.

You can place only one storage cellar on your farm. Each farmer is offered one free storage cellar, which you'll find by simply clicking on your gift box. You can also elect to buy a storage cellar for 10,000 coins.

While you can be able to store up to 500 items in your storage cellar, remember that this is a FarmVille-wide maximum. In other words, that's the maximum number of items you can store in your entire farm. Items you have stored elsewhere, like in a storage shed for example, will count against the 500 item capacity of your storage cellar.

Use Shovels to Dig Your Storage Cellar

After deciding on a place on your FarmVille spread to locate your storage cellar, you can begin digging. To dig your storage cellar, you'll need shovels... lots of them. For every shovel you use, you increase your storage cellar's holding capacity by 2 items.

The best way to increase your FarmVille storage cellar's capacity quickly is to have your neighbors send you shovels.

You can always buy shovels, but they'll cost you 5 FarmVille cash for 10 shovels. Unless you already have lots of FarmVille cash sitting around or care to purchase FarmVille cash to maximize the holding capacity of your storage cellar, your best bet is to simply be bold and ask friends to send you storage cellar shovels.

Special Surprises

Every time you get a shovel, you're awarded one point. Each of these points can be collected and used to redeem special prizes.

*For 20 points, you can claim a mole.
*40 points scores a crystal rock.
*For 60 points you can have a miner sheep.
*120 points nets you a cave gnome.
*The biggest prize offered is an antique tractor, which requires 200 points.

Competing With Your Neighbors

Digging your FarmVille storage cellar can be competitive, thanks to the comparison chart you're able to bring up on your screen. To see how many shovels you have versus your friends, simply click on your storage cellar. Once the storage cellar window pops up, click on "comparison." The comparison chart shows you where you rank among your friends and also who among your friends has the most shovels.
