Guide to Buying Wholesale for EBay

It is often a challenge to locate a reliable and legitimate source of wholesale merchandise to resell. Sometimes, you do not have to look any further than eBay itself. An eBay search of the word "wholesale" yields over 200,000 results. If you know how to properly narrow down these results, you can find great deals on large lots that will yield a fair profit.

My personal experience in buying wholesale on eBay mainly centers around used DVDs. I've bought several lots of a few hundred DVDs and then turned around and sold them individually. It is extremely convenient to resell these DVDs because they can be shipped in bubble mailers, which are available cheaply in bulk on eBay.

To find wholesale DVD lots, do an eBay search for "DVD lots". Then on the left select "Wholesale Lots" and then "DVDs". You can then select to view different sizes of lots. When I buy wholesale lots, I usually pay approximately $1.70 per DVD. It runs a little more if the DVDs are all new releases, boxed sets, Disney movies, or brand new. Do not buy a lot unless the description lists all the DVD titles or you can tell from the photo which ones are included. Do a completed listings search of several of the included titles to see how much they have sold for recently to make sure you can make a profit.

Once you receive a lot of DVDs, they are much easier to list than most eBay items. You can simply enter the ISBN or DVD title and all of the information will automatically be completed for you. You just need to indicate a few things such as condition.

I have found that selling DVDs as Buy It Now results in higher sales prices than auction style listings. Do a "completed listings" search to find the average price at which the title has sold. Then list your item at that price and set a shipping price somewhere in the range of $1.99-$2.99. Ship the DVDs First Class mail rather than Media Mail as it is much faster and pretty much the same price.

In the end, both the buyer and seller are happy. The buyer receives a great product at a price that tends to be lower than store prices. The seller makes a profit for minimal work, has a steady flow of inventory, and easily racks up positive feedback.

When it comes to buying individual DVD titles for my own collection, I always buy them used on eBay. They are usually in great condition and several dollars cheaper than the same used DVD would be in a store. I have developed quite a collection over the years at a very reasonable price.
