Throughout the year, many people visit church because it fits with their personal beliefs, and also because it helps them love their fellow man. But many churches experience an increased number of visitors during the holiday season, because people are having trouble feeling joyous during the holiday season. This year, whether you have your own church where you regularly visit, or whether you are without a church that you can call your own, here are some suggestions of churches that have a great Christmas service, living Nativity, or Christmas pageant.

In Del City, a suburb of Oklahoma City, one of the greatest Christmas pageants in the entire United States can be seen. First Southern Baptist Church of Del City is an enormous church located at 6400 S. Sooner Road. The church has had a former President of the Southern Baptist Convention as its head preacher, in addition to drawing such guests as Oliver North and world famous singers. Befitting a church of this magnitude, they have held Christmas programs in the past that include such things as a working elevator, a mock-up of a life-size airplane nose, and a 30-60 foot tall Choir Christmas tree where the choir are decorated as ornaments, and sit within an enormous tree shaped decoration that covers the entire stage. This is not a service to be missed, and every year, they draw a large crowd to witness the service. This year, the pageant is called, A Christmas Prayer".

Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond, another suburb of Oklahoma City, is having a Christmas pageant December 6th, 7th, and 8th called, "Have We Got a Story for You". Tickets are free, but they are required, and a free dessert will be served immediately following the performance each night. The show promises to feature "hundreds of children, students and adults from our Worship & Arts Ministry". Make sure to get your tickets now by visiting 1200 E. I-35 Frontage Rd. in Edmond, or calling 405-341-4639 for more information.

Boys Ranch Town Living Christmas Pageant is also in Edmond. Boys Ranch Town is a 145 acre working ranch in Edmond that houses at-risk boys. They live within a small family type setting and individual houses or apartments with seven other boys, that is run by "houseparents", a married couple that function as parents to the boys. The Christmas pageant runs for three days, and offers people the ability to drive through a pageant that depicts twelve scenes from the life of Jesus. The Oklahoma City version takes place on December 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. If you cannot make these dates, they also have drive through pageants throughout the state. Check their website at http://www.obhc.org/christmas_pageants.htm for more info.

No matter which one you choose, these suggestions are all wonderful for helping you get in the spirit of the season. As long as you go with an open heart, you will find many wonderful things at these services and sermons to give you a cheerful heart this holiday season. And you may even find that you want to make it your church home throughout the year.
